It is for morality purposes.Women are beautiful and memorizing and it is for that reason they cover their face to protect men from their own impure thoughts and desires. Is it good? well yes cause there would be a lot less infedility if you couldn't see a womens face, but then again maybe men should just where blinders on their eyes.

when a muslim woman (who is wearing a hijab) is committed to wearing the hijab, as Islam had told her to, it becomes an unrelinquished aspect of her life. It not only symbolizes her religion, but also her dignity and her want of not being bothered nor assulted by men (mentally & physically). now Islam had not told anything about The Veil, only that the woman must cover all her body, except her face and hands. It is just some countries oblige their women to wear that for over protection from the desires of men. the veil came out only as traditions in some countries, but if you are'nt from any of these countries, i would agree with you that women must'nt wear it. As i said, Islam did not mention anything about covering the face, because it would draw more attention than to actually keep them away (esp. in non Muslim countries).

According to a good friend of mine that is a Muslim female, the Quran recommends covering because men can't be trusted to treat a woman properly if he finds her beautiful. Covering is for her safety and respect.

Women also pray in the back of the mosques because if the men could see their fannies while praying, they wouldn't be thinking of God...

I once went to mosque with my friend, and although I am not religious (more spiritual...) I must admit that being covered does give you a sort of...I can't explain it, but men certainly looked at me differently-like I was unavailable, I guess. Seeing me pumping gas with a long skirt and full head covering (and I'm a white Irish lass) made them look twice, but not for the usual reason! LOL

In Islam the purpose of a woman covering herself is to prevent men from having impure thoughts of them and creating a distraction to men. On one hand it can be good because men will treat women the same because they won't be viewed as a sex object, but on the other hand, it takes away a lot of rights from women and automatically gives dominance to the male population. Everybody's culture is different.

Personally, I don't like anyone telling me what I should or shouldn't be wearing. It's up to the MOTHERS of the world to teach their daughters self-respect and modesty. Girls should be brought up to respect their bodies and respect themselves. If they do, there won't be any need for women to cover themselves. Similarly, men need to learn to keep it in their pants and not scapegoat women for their own moral shortcomings. I mean, the main reason why women were told to cover themselves up was because men can't control their primal urges. It's not a woman's fault if a man can't keep it in his pants, but because women are physically weaker than men, they had no choice but to cover themselves from head to toe.

I think there is an appropriate amount of cover somewhere between the veils over the face and Britney Spears no underwear.

Woman don't seem to want to be ladies anymore, they seem to want to emulate the HOs.
