A muslim has an obligation to follow the Qu'ran and hadith. Between these, there is a prohibition against permanently marking the body. A non-muslim is bound by his culture and his religion, however, a muslim may not mark his body.
In your proposed scenario, you were tattoo'd before you professed the faith in Islam, "There is no God but Allah, and Muhammed is his prophet." When you received the tattoo, it was in accord with your old customs and religion. One could thus argue that the tattoo is thus permissible because the act was not forbidden when it was done.
However, with modern technology, it is possible to reduce or diminish tattoos. One could make the case that since the tattoo is now a possible focus of shame and haraam on one's flesh, there is just cause to expect to have the tattoo removed if the technology and funds are available to do so.
Speak with your imam or teacher for specific study of Qu'ran to decide how you should proceed.

Maybe that will affect you much in mentally...for example other muslims will not believe u are muslims because of the tatoos...that things happen but dont get to think about it too much...
You have tatoos before u know Islam, and it sacred law....so that not the a real problem....Just make a repent and do what u suppose to do as a Muslim....Your God knows more about His slave more than other person....

Then you converted to the wrong religion. Now you are going to Hell for sure. A tattoo is an abomination. You are an abomilizer. You had better convert back to Christanity quick before you are completely condimned..

Just leave it alone. It will only affect you when you keep looking at it and punish yourself, what is done is done. Rest in the fact that you know your intentions and so does God, in other words don't listen to the crap people may tell you.
