In Hinduism the God's have revealed themselves to us in various forms like appearing in stone, coming out of the earth, in mud, etc. We believe in our Gods as much as Christians believe in Jesus. However we do not say ours is the only true religion. Why then do Christians say that. Also, Christians say that other religions' people will go to hell after they die and they will not be saved and blah blah... What if they were proved wrong? What will they do then? So who is right, Hindus or Christians?

I've noticed most people come here to try to make others feel bad, to make fun of others and to just be mean....Does anyone really want to ask a question about who God is and try to figure out things in the Bible, learn how they can become a Christian, find the best way to further their Christian life?

What I mean is, people get confused with a Christain compared to Christianity. For instance, someone can be a Christain and not be a Catholic, or Jahova Witness. Does anyone know what I'm talking about. I have a friend that is a Johava Witness, and refers to a Christain as a religion.

Remembered on the 7th sign - the movie with Demi Moore? The world was about to end because of the evil and corruption that was going on in the world. There was no right or wrong religion. What if that's true?

I wonder because most Christians are offended by other religions. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I am. Please tell me becoz I think here in USA that other religions may not be tolerated. I'm Hindu and this confuses me because I have many Christian American friends. This may be sensitive so I appreciate you guys and girls answering me. Thanks.

I think every person that abandons supernatural thinking is helping to repair the immense damage religion has caused (and continues to cause) throughout history.

Atheists tend to be the most peaceful, progressive and positive contibutors to society (just look at the scientific, medical & technological constributions.) Despite the nonsensical ravings of Christians, we are usually MORE ethical and moral then they are. For example, atheists commit far less crimes, and no atheist has ever started a world war!

Furthermore, three of the four most famous philantropists in history were/are atheists, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and Andrew Carnegie.

It seems that atheists not only lead by example, we lead by a BETTER example.

Do you agree?

Seems like all it does is cause people to go to hell. So what's the upside? Why would God give it to us?

THIS QUESTION IS HYPOTHETICAL. I'M NOT TRYING TO MAKE AN ARGUMENT OF SOME KIND. DO NOT EVEN ANSWER IF YOU'RE JUST GOING TO SAY, "WELL THEY DO EXIST SO YOUR HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION IS TOO HYPOTHETICAL."

Ok so the story goes that "god" created everything? But for what reason? Boredom? To see if he can? Or as some would say..."so we can praise him"?

Wouldn't that be like a single person wanting a kid so that child will "love" them? In that light, wouldn't that make god kinda needy. In fact, if god is all powerful and able to do anything why would he need my praise in the first place? I'd be willing to bet he (or she) is aware of his or her abilities.

A being that can create universes seems to hardly need my validation

Blacks are infact mentioned in the Bible, they are called the "Chayee Behemah" which means "Beast of the Field".

The Hebrew Word "Adam" is translated as "Man" and means "to blush or turn rosy".

Jonah 3:7-8
"And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: But let man and bast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that [is] in their hands."

Here it talks about "Beasts" that can wear sackcloth (clothes), has hands, and can "cry mightily unto the Lord".

What do you think?

I am an athiest and my views on "God" are pretty much summed up in this statement by Richard Dawkins:

“ The God of the old testament is arguably the most unpleasant character of all fiction…Jealous and proud of it, a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak, a vindictive blood-thirsty ethnic cleanser, a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

Philosophers and theologians have argued for centuries on the meaning of life and what it means for a person to truly "be". I personally believe that an individual's purpose in life is to earn his or her place in eternity by actively attempting to make this world a better place. What are some of your opinions on the topic?
