I am an athiest and my views on "God" are pretty much summed up in this statement by Richard Dawkins:
“ The God of the old testament is arguably the most unpleasant character of all fiction…Jealous and proud of it, a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak, a vindictive blood-thirsty ethnic cleanser, a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

that pretty much sums up the devil..not God.It is funny how you ask this question and you are already a strong non believer anyways,so what will change your mind.Look around you,why wouldn't there be a God?Why are we here to drive nice cars, make lots of money, wear nice clothes than die. That doesn't make sense at all.We are all here for a reason and unfortunately most people will believe when it's too late. And I am guessing they won't like that ending. The Devil is loving you, Because he's got you right where he wants you.OK say he's not real,(as you do already)but you try to do what's right and believe and you die and all this stuff isn't real..so what..what have you lost, nothing. Now say he's real and you go on not believing and when you die you find out he is real as is the devil and then your burning in hell, then what?Nothing..it will all be too late, and for what.

I am sorry that you are so insecure with your belief that God doesn't exist that you have to seek justification for your opinion by starting off with an interesting question to lure in your victims and then bombard them with statements about yourself. You really are not interested in opinions opposing your own, are you? Ask a question or answer other people's questions, but don't ask a question and answer it yourself because you are afraid that some answers may be different from your views and you might have to utilize a thought process rather than simply regurgitating words that you can't pronounce nor understand.

Dont you think that this question is something you would discuss online, religion is so confrontational and have you watched the davinci code, a movie that dose make alot of since when you think about it and look at a painting of the last supper. I mean I believe in god, but that is apart of me, other people, well it would depend on their believes or religion. Its not a bad question to ask someone, just I dont think a straight answer is something that youll get.

We do not know whether god exists or not. In fact, our knowledge and understanding is so less that we do not even know what happens to a person a minute after he dies. In matters of life and death, purpose of creation, why we are here, where do we go next ? we have just that much idea, may be as little as any animal that exists on this planet, maybe the apes, from whom we have descended.
Don't take the bible so literally, we are not sure who wrote it. Maybe, the poets, and they have put their personalities into the bible, their style of writing etc. Based on the bible don't make any interpolation or extrapolation, it is meaningless.

at one time in my life I had the athiest attitude and 2 years ago
I recieved the blessings of the holy spirit. Not by going to church
or anything like that. I was not even in a religious state. It just
came upon me. Now I believe god is alive and exists.

I'm quite familiar with this pearl of wisdom but I think the earlier pioneer of the truth was Sigmund Freud who most likely influenced Richard Dawkins as well . I'm making an educated guess but you can ask him if you ever get the chance . Freud was one of the ground breaking authorities laying convincing
understanding for atheism.

A Creative Energy or Higher Power does exist in my opinion.
The version that you have chosen as "the God of the old testament"....is clearly not the loving, generous, highly intelligent creator of our universe that I believe in.
God exists....but how we choose to define he/she/it, is the problem.

If you believe he exists, if you dont he doesnt. Its all about faith. Yes the old testament God was cruel. The new testament God is forgiving. Makes you wonder why the Jewish tend to be forgiving, yet the christians are so hell fire and damnation

To your question as none of us actually know, I BELIEVE that yes, there is a higher power, but there are some of us that don't always buy into the middleman's versions, (I mean the humans down here's versions of things.)
