Using the accepted shorthand "Xian" or misspelling it as "Christain" or "Chritsans"?

Someone suggested that using Xian was very disrespectful. Akin to saying "Pops" or "The Big Dude". So is it better to shorten it or to mangle it?

I wonder this because I almost invariably misspell the word when I type it out. In much the same way that people so frequently misspell atheist as "Athiest", and I know how much that annoys me.

I was looking at a seahorse charm for my necklace, but was wondering does a seahorse has some representation in the christian community. I dont want to buy something and someone gets upset and tells me it means something bad. Like i knew a girl named venus. and she changed her name because she said it represented something about the devil. If anyone know anything about a seahorse let me know, buying a charm is just too add decor to my 10kt rope. thx

When my Mom was a child she and one sister would sneak out of the house against their parents wishes (their Dad was a very abusive alcoholic) to go to church and get breakfast at the Salvation Army. Mom has maintained a close relationship with the Lord all her life through various Christian churches, but that sister didn't.

When my wife was a child she and one brother would sneak out of the house against their parents wishes (both parents were alcoholics) to go to a protestant church for services and breakfast. My wife has been close to the Lord her entire adult life. We don't know how her brother may have turned out as he died decades ago in a car accident. None of her other siblings go to church.

My question is; how many of you had to disobey your parents in order to go to church, and how has that experience impacted your life?

Does each sperm cell have a soul? Did the creator(or a specific God) spark life in each individual cell or is life sparked by the male organism involuntary(No God intended)? Do you believe the cell that prevailed is pre-destined or survived because of natural selection? What of the losers, does each soul simply die, reincarnate, or enter heaven etc?

For creationists only!
Whats the point of foe a creator to spark lives of millions only to watch all but one die in each organism? If you do believe each cell does in fact have a soul, are they banished for lacking the belief as your doctrines suggest or are they waivered?

Why do they only act christlike on Sunday, and then act so worldly during the rest of the week? Don't they know that they are setting bad examples of being a Christian???

I mean, compared with say, the buddhist sutras, the contents of the Bible are violent, oppressive and God is the most ruthless being to have ever existed (Noah's arc- he wipes out EVERY living being on the planet other than the arc dwellers). According to the Bible, God also thinks/demands tens of millions of innocent people should be killed/stoned to death.

If you work on the sabbath you should be killed.
If you drink/eat too much as a teen you should be killed.
If you sleep with another man you should be killed.
People of other nations should be enslaved, and beating them is OK.
Women should be oppressed and not allowed to talk in public.
Villages/towns of atheists should be destroyed & every inhabtant killed.

I am against murder for whatsoever reason, and ~apparantly~ so is God in the 10 commandments, so how can the Bible be deemed 'good' for legitimizing murder in some of the above scenarios and more?

I am a bit confused. I have many Jewish friends, but they are mostly indifferent and sometimes even hostile towards their own religion. I myself am not Jewish but I have studied Judaism and love it and am very excited about converting.

My confusion is this: when I went to speak to a rabbi about conversion, he discouraged me from converting, saying that it is more serious than I think, and that I can live a fulfilled life without becoming Jewish. I told him how excited I am about Judaism but he still pushed me away.

What is going on? I am thirsty for Judaism and I am pushed away, while so many Jews are not even open to learning more about their own religion!

in my last question many people claimed that angels still do visit us.

if they do, they stopped having sex with us or something? how come there are no nephilim around today?

the bible says that angels can be seen, that they are in form at least similar to human, they arent little invisible beings on our shoulders to guard us.

God, right? So for those of you who say we send ourselves to Hell, you may want to think about this a little more. All you would be doing was choosing to send yourself to "the punishment". God determines what "the punishment" is though.
