I am usually a bit on the verbose side when I answer a question. The only things I will cut and paste are quotes that are relevant to what I am answering or links. Sometimes, a question requires an in-depth answer. Such as "What is the evidence of evolution?". That answer could fill thousands of pages. I try to be thorough. I do not like to give a small answer that leaves out a lot of information if I can avoid it. If a small answer will do, I will use it but most of the questions I am interested in require a bit of discussion. That does mean a few paragraph long answers from time to time. Brevity can be a measure of wit. However, not all the time (or at least I am witless).

Some people are highly-informed on certain topics and have been taught to write a thorough and well thought out response. Since they have taken the time to compose such an answer (unless it's a cut and paste job), I appreciate it enough to read it all.

I call some people the Cut-And-Paste Champion. Other people, I know they thought hard about the question. Whenever I ask a question, I take each answer into consideration.

why are you asking in R& S? you questions have all been in other catagories.... in this section many questions regarding Faith and beliefs are a bit complex... if an honest question is asked it deserves an honest answer... and that can take some space.... but some cut-and-paste can get out of hand ...I do not do that... if more is needed I provide a link or offer to reply by email

Because some questions open a can of worms. When you are dealing with a philosophical paradigm that spans 6000 years of evolution and adaptation, it is hard to summarize it in a few sentences. Religion and Spirituality, Philosophy, and History are not the places to hang out if you want short answers.

Few do write that much in reponse to questions. Most of those long answers are just cut and pastes from other sources. Or worse, scripture quotes. *shudder*

Some questions can be given quick one to two word answers. However, some questions are more involved (the asker may not even realize it at that moment); so longer answers may be appropriate.

I am guilty as charged. I think that complex questions often require complex answers.

yup- it usually is connected with religious questions! - they cut and paste Bible and qur'an sections because they are to lazy to enlighten us with their own believes and thoughts. it takes two cups of coffee and a bathroom brake to get through one answer or question! I don't even bother any longer!
