God, right? So for those of you who say we send ourselves to Hell, you may want to think about this a little more. All you would be doing was choosing to send yourself to "the punishment". God determines what "the punishment" is though.

Digory: Listen dumbass, I didn't say it was god's fault if I sinned (although it is since he created me knowing what I would do). I said it is god's fault if the place I go afterward is HELL. I would resist with all my power any attempt to be put in Hell, but some of you will STILL say I choose to be there.

Who says that we send ourselves to hell?
If you believe in heaven and hell, then you can't "send yourself" there. You can do things that will lead you to one place or the other, but the final judgment isn't yours.
If you don't believe in heaven and hell, then why do you care?

It all comes down to personal choice and personal responsibility- the former being venerated by our society and the latter being an almost unknown concept anymore. First I must consider one thing... Was the hell-bound sinner exposed to the Gospel and its message of Redemption, Atonement, and Forgiveness? If yes, the person then makes a conscious decision to either believe in the message or to ignore it and take the left hand path. God said in HIs Word that Hell was created for Satan and his angels. It is not God's wish that one person should perish. (Please see John 3:16-18)
If you don't believe in Hell, I suppose this question probably seems irrelevant anyway.
The wages of sin is death. I deserve the same punishment as anyone. I can rely only on the grace and mercy of Him who paid the price on the cross. I hope this helps.

The consequences of sin are usually determined by the act of sin itself.
If you drink and drive drunk, you get in a car wreck. Because being drunk and having your judgement impaired while behind the wheel of a powerful machine causes accidents.
The consequences of adultry can be a broken marriage, a sexually transmitted diease, an out of wedlock child, a jealous lover or spouse who decides to kill you.
God didn't just "pick" a consequence and attach it to a sin. The consequences follow naturally and logically from the actions.
Those who spend their whole lives rejecting God, refusing his leadings, disobeying his rules, and laughting about how they are going to go to hell and have a party with all their friends and stick it to God in the end, get exactly what is the reasonable, logical, and natural consequences of their action.

Ohhhhh, so you're saying that God should have not only offered you the choice, you think He should have also given you the right to choose what your eternity will be, other than Heaven or Hell.
Who are you to decide this? Are you the creator of the universe? You are but a mere mortal, easily broken ... and you dare to challenge God? LOL
What did you want, door number 3? You either choose to spend eternity with God, or choose not to. There is no 3rd option lol.
But you'll notice through my whole answer you did retain the right to choose ... so yeah, it IS correct to say that you send yourself to Hell, God doesn't send you there.

The consequences have already been determined by God. The consequences were given when the commandments were given.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
However the consequences of crimes have already been determined by society. So if we say a murderer is to be jailed so many years if they murder somebody, then knowing the consequences and then comitting the act makes who responsible for the outcome? The criminal.

Listen up moron, Who determines what happens if you step off a tall building? The law of gravity.... Would it be God's fault that you chose to step off a building? Or would it be more accurate to say that you as an idiot that you are, chose to ignore the law of gravity and got what you deserved (a Darwin award).
there are such laws in the universe about everything, These laws are necessary for everything to function properly, and if the law of gravity didn't exist, you would be floating in space and you'd be blaming God for not making such a law. Either way you'll be mad at God so why should he give a crap about what you think?
To answer your second comment: you say you will resist being put in hell... that is like saying after stepping off the tall building you will do everything in your power to keep from hitting the pavement below. I say good luck, but it seems to me that if you want to resist falling, you might be more successful if you do it before you take that step off the building.

God is not only the one who makes the rules and consequences, but he is omnipotent as well. That means that before the world was created he knows who is going to accept salvation, and who is going to be a sinner deserving of eternal fire. So in choosing to create sinners, God is essentially choosing to send occupants to Hell.
Some humans get upset at companies that breed animals for fur, or mass produce meat farms. The reasoning behind the anger is that it is unfair to the animals, because they are being created for death. It appears that, as humans, we are in a similar situation, only problem is, we are on the farm. Of course some of us will be picked to go into eternal bliss, but far many more will be cooking in eternal pain.
None of us chose to be born. Only a small portion of humans in history have had a chance to choose Jesus as their savior, the rest of them are just loosers in the lotto of eternal life

If "God" determines what is "right" and what is "wrong", then why is it that at some time in some different culture, everything that one sees as "sin" today in a particular culture has NOT been "sin" but has been promoted in another culture as a positive behavior? Does "God" change her/his mind on what is acceptable or not, and when and where and by whom?

The wages of sin are death.
Death of the body AND death of the soul.
God has determined the reward, which is Heaven.
Anything other than the reward is the punishment.

Only if you adhere to that tradition. From the first time that hell is mentioned in Scripture, it is already used as an allegory. 'Hell' was the valley of Gihon, a trash dump outside of Jerusalem. Either hell is an allegory, or it is now a peaceful green valley in Israel.
