would be forgiven of our sins, why wouldn't I be covreed (so to speak)? Why does this sin stand out as worse than sins such as murder and rape?

I have to admit, I've become discouraged with religion. Some of the people I encountered in business who were religious, seemed to have no conscience - at all. And some of the worst instances came from people of my own denomination, Catholic.

I'm not saying that being religious makes you unethical - I'm sure I've benefitted from people who were quietly faithfull, and very ethical. But frankly, from what I've seen, it doesn't seem to make much difference. If you can't be decent and honest in the workplace, how much good can weekly church service be doing?

Consider Luke 24:46: Jesus said it is written and therefore necessary for him to suffer and rise from the dead on the 3rd day.

Consider 1 Corinthians 15:3-4: Paul says according to the scriptures Christ died and rose on the 3rd day.

My point is that in two different places in the NT, the bible tells of predictions that christ will rise on the third day.

The NT was not around at the time, so these predictions must have been in the OT, right? Or wrong? Where does the OT tell of a prediction that Christ will rise from the dead?

I just moved to LA... and I want to get back into going to a Christian Church... my only problem is I don't believe in alot of the things that Christians do... for example, hell.

If humans go to hell, then why would the all perfect all-knowing all-giving God only tell us about it in the New Testament??

In my opinion, hell isnt where we go when we die...

BUT back to my point...

What kind of church would you all recommend if I don't believe in these lies past down through the church?

I don't want any heat from people who only think one way.

I know there are non-denominational ones but does that even mean Christian?

I only believe in what the Bible says... and hell, in my opinion, is used as an adjective in the Bible...

Thanks for your help!

Some answers I see others give to questions here make me sad. I see so many people who seem to be searching for God . yet hide behind anger or gross humor ........ they try to shock with morbid or detailed explicit answers trying to generate some feelings from the posters of Christian questions. To me , the fact that they would do such a thing .gives me HOPE...whaen people do things like that .it shows they are really looking to fit in . but dont think they can . or that God is available to them. Maybe they think they are TOO BAD for GOD . that everyone else is better than them . that they are hopeless . so they might as well mock it .
Well , You need to hear that it is not true . NONE of us are worth God's love ....... yet He does love every last one of us . EVEN the ones who speak so loudly against Him .....Even You fit in with Him . with us .....No one is TOO BAD for GOD to love. If you take the time to read the book of Mark in the New Testament of the Bible .You will see.

i would like to point out to all those who think that blacks are not included in christianity and it is foreign that actually the bible show in acts chp8 vs 27-40 that it was in fact a man from ethiopia who was indeed black that is probably one of the first non jewish christians as the church was 100% jewish at first, just takes a little study before we start causing racial divisions.

Listen to this song by Andrae Crouch that was written when he was only 14 years old. Then please tell me how it changes your life.

The blood that Jesus shed for me,
'Way back on Calvary;
The blood that gives me strength from day to day,
It will never lose its power.

It reaches to the highest mountain,
It flows to the lowest valley,
The blood that gives me strength form day to day,
It will never lose its power.

It soothes my doubts and calms my fears,
And it dries all my tears;
The blood that gives me strength from day to day,
It will never lose its power.

It reaches to the highest mountain,
It flows to the lowest valley,
The blood that gives me strength form day to day,
It will never lose its power.

Can't a nonbeliever just say "I don't know" once in a while?

Unless you know everything, which would make you God.

Pride was the only thing holding me back to submitting to Christ before I was saved.

Nonbelievers, I have noticed, are taking way more offense that Christians.

Did you know that offense is the Devil's greatest tool of deception?

The Biblical definition is:

Hebrews 11:1-Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.

How do you difine and understand faith in God?

I mean, if it happened - Big Bang, Evolution, gravity - then you (being a believer in God) should simply believe that God did it that way. I understand that Genesis says that God created man from dust and all that, but couldn't that just be a simplistic dark ages way of explaining how man basically came from the earth? Does the "explanation" in the Bible really exclude the various scientific explanations? And why are certain scientific concepts rejected and others not, when they are not in the Bible?

I realize not all God-believers oppose the scientific concepts and many even embrace them just as I describe, but what about all the other people out there?

In other words either he felt alone, and then was non perfect. Or to give ''love'', then he felt that he missed something, then he was non complete. How do believers handle this question?

I'm a Christian and some of those I love are not. Christians belive that you can only get to heaven though Jesus. So some of the people that I love will not go to Heaven? So how could I go to Heaven if those that I love would not be there? It would not be Heaven. So am I damned because others dont believe? Further, Christians are to love everyone, even thier enemies. So unless everyone believes in Jesus, we are all damned?

In studying world religions, both contemporary and historical, one thing hits me over the head time and again... although the content of the religions is different, the certainty of belief held by the practictioners of each religion is about the same.
it seems that every practioner KNOWS WITH CERTAINTY that their beliefs are true and correct.
but if you step back and see how similar they are in this... how this is a common trait of all... doesn't it become increasingly obvious that none of them can be so sure, if all of them are?
someone can read about the ancient greeks and then say, "they believed in so many gods. that's so wrong. everyone knows there's just one god." but... there were/are tons of people who look at them and say, "they only believe in one god. that's so wrong. everyone knows there are 3."

so how do the religious reconcile this? how do they allow themselves to be so swayed by their own faith, and so unconvinced by all others. Please no WORD OF GOD answers
