If your companion is a service animal, you can. Other than that, many public places do not allow animals because many are not well-behaved. Dog and cat fights in the middle of a service do not lead to a orderly worship service. The random barks and such are disruptive.
Also, dogs and pets are typically not allowed in public buildings for reasons of hygiene. Too, unruly dogs have been known to bite people, and this would raise insurance premiums for churches.

My dad is a minister. Every year he would hold a service to bring pets to church. You could bring any animal to service any time. If people get up and leave ( except for allergies) you would really be able to pick out the real Christians in the church. I wouldn't bring it if it was very loud and squirming.

Well we are not allowed in the Catholic Church to bring dogs into church for it is a time for worship. Yes all creatures are God's creation but animals have been givin to us from God (for food, pets, etc.) and we must be kind to creation and love animals but they are not equal to humans and should not be in a place of worship. Of course there is a special day for that in the Catholic Church - The blessing of the pets sometime in October, around Oct 4th - the feast day of St.Francis of Assisi - Our patron saint of animals.

No, it would be a distraction. Some people are allergic to dogs also. I have seen this once at a very informal church and it was a distraction. I love dogs, but don't think they belong in a church building.

Yes absolutely, take your dog to church with you. Make sure that your dog participates in holy communion and all the kneeling and hymn singing. Dogs really like to sing. If people see that the dog can do that they won't notice that he is actually a dog. Dress your dog up a little. Polish his shoes and make sure you give him one of those doggy breath mints. Have a talk with your dog about some of the finer points of Christianity ahead of time so he will know whats going on. You'll see, it will be fine.

Well you could essentially. We had a person bring their pet parrot to church with them once.
Of course, I would question why you would feel it neccesary to have your pet with you. And would question your motives. I don't think you should bring your pet because it could be a distraction not only for you but for others attending services that day.

I don't see why you can't. He's one of God's creatures isn't he.
