I mean, if it happened - Big Bang, Evolution, gravity - then you (being a believer in God) should simply believe that God did it that way. I understand that Genesis says that God created man from dust and all that, but couldn't that just be a simplistic dark ages way of explaining how man basically came from the earth? Does the "explanation" in the Bible really exclude the various scientific explanations? And why are certain scientific concepts rejected and others not, when they are not in the Bible?

I realize not all God-believers oppose the scientific concepts and many even embrace them just as I describe, but what about all the other people out there?

BTW - I'm not saying any of those things did happen, but that IF they did, then you'd have to say God did it that way IF you believed in God.

No one seems to have a problem saying God made gravity work the way it does, so why the resistance to something like Evolution?

I've often thought that. In fact, that was kinda/sorta what I was taught. Perhaps it's just the catholics who are more accepting of that idea; that's the impression I've gotten out here.

I'm agnostic so i've never ruled out the possibility that a god exist.Sometimes i,ve even wondered,"did god just create the whole universe and let it govern itself?" The big bang sounds really good exept for: were did the lump off mass that started it come from?Maybe a supreme being made it?There are too many things that human beings cannot explain. The only thing that I know that is for sure is that I know nothing.

The biggest resistance to understanding the scientific realities around us is our current world view.

Wether thats "god did it" or "well it had to be the big bang" or "the smallest amount of matter is (fill in the blank)"

I just mean atheists as well as theists (although I don't really promote God belief) shouldn't accept any scientific concept "just as I describe" the "I" being you the Phoenix, or anyone.

We should instead perform or own expiriments, which will have repeatable verifiable results.

Reality exists. I can proof that water boils, we can repeat that expiriment.

Me adding heat to water does it.

I think you see where I'm going with my answer.

Its hard to write this answer I've started over twice, I'm trying to diplomatically disagree with you.

edit: From this question I asked my question regarding why do we have to acknowledge the possibility of God.

Seeing your additional comment makes me see your original question in a better light.

New response: Why would someone who believes in God believe in God?

I disbelieve evolution bc it directly contradicts God's creation of distinct kinds. I believe in gravity, bc I see it happen. However, we've never seen an animal change into another kind of animal.

Yes, the Bible excludes the possibility of evolution. God created distinct kinds which directly contradicts the Bible, in addition, evidence of disease, like cancer has been found in fossils. If cancer happened during the creation week, then God called it "very good." Why would a loving God, who healed diseases when He came to Earth, call cancer "very good"? This contradicts His nature.

Remember, evolution deals with origin science, and we weren't there to observe it happen. However, the Bible is God's Word, and God was there, so His word should be taken over anything we say or think.

The Big Bang is just a THEORY, evolution is just a THEORY, creation is just a "shortcut" to the answers to every life's unanswered questions. None are 100% correct, therefore there's no reason why anyone should believe in them. Though I gotta admit, evolution is much more believable than creation...to me.
