She said it was no shortcoming in me. Now she has married him after i was with her for many years and she always insisted there could never be anyone else or better. Is this a good reason " It just happened"? I still cannot figure it out? I do not go to church anymore.

I am mainly looking for social and cultural indicators, but feel free to discuss transport, military, employment, food, globalisation etc if you feel like it.

Hint for anyone whose main goal here is to get a valuable and heart warming two points: This should take more than two lines!

Thanks everyone.

I've onced attempted fasting before to try to find God's will for my life and gave up before the night was over, feeling discouraged that I would not hear from him.

For those of you who has fasted, is praying and reading the Bible all you did, minute to minute? (i mean besides using the restroom). I want to pray but I run of out things to say after praying intensely for 10 or 15 minutes and I find myself repeating myself. How long should I try to fast if I'm a beginner? And what about sleep? Are you supposed to not sleep at all if you say you will fast for three days?

I need some serious guidance for my life right now, and I know fasting is a form of seeking God's will. If you have some experience to share with me on how to fast, I would appreciate it greatly.

Creationists claim that all the geological layers of earth were formed during "the flood". I do not understand this as their proof says that if you drop dirt in water it forms layers, however, those minerals form specific layers based on density, so how did several different layers of similar minerals seperate into different strata if it all happened at once and why do fossils only appear in similarily dated strata if radiometric dating is false?

Look at how wonderful this nation (America) is. Look how far advanced we are! Than look at nations such as india, mexico, norht korea, south korea, england, etc. Than look at the nations history. The nations such as england, france, have a history as a christian nation. (since the reformation) The nations such as india iran etc. have a history as being none christian. Iran is certanly not as well off as the christian nations. Now check this out with most nations and you will find a common theme here. (Japan is an exemption, and there a few exemptions, but those exemptions have been highly influenced by christian nations.)

Coincidence?

If god is all knowing / all seeing / all powerful as we are led to believe, then surely the moment he created every thing in the universe, he would have known his actions would directly or indirectly lead to the creation of EVIL.

By his own actions of creating the angels who would start a war and rebel, only to be condemned to the nearly created HELL, and would later be responsible for bringing EVIL, PAIN and SUFFERING to Earth... God by being omniscient / omnipresent would have known this would happen and therefor been part of his overall plan.

So did God intend to create evil?

I am writing an essay on the artistic and religious importance of the Sistine Chapel. I was wondering if anyone knows good wesbites [NOT WIKIPEDIA] where I can get detailed infromation on its religious importance..I know it is used by the Papal Conclave, but I need info to flesh this out. Also, any info on tourist numbers each year at the Sistine Chapel would also be great!

Unlikely that geocentric sheep herders had any concept of the earth completing an orbital path around the sun. Counting seasonal changes in a tropical-temperate Middle East is kind of dicey, while counting the effects of seasonal changes (e.g. river level cross a threshhold) would give imprecise results.

I am Christian and have been for years. I am also a Christian poet. When one of my poems was read at my mother's funeral, everyone seemed "shocked" that I had written it and a whole book of unpublished poems that are mainly Christian. They couldn't seem to believe that I have that much passion about my subject.
I know I have trouble speaking to groups but that doesn't mean I don't have the same passion.

You know how it says that we will forget everything, that we will not love? That sounds horrible. And our bodies will be replaced with heavenly ones? Does that mean we will be stripped of all of our unique ness? We will feel no pain, sadness, nervousness, or anything? That's what makes living so nice. If you ask me, it sounds dreadfully boring.

Catholic Church's stance, at the moment? It is a chance for Muslims and Christians to stand together against pending legislation by Tony Blair's government. So why arn't Muslims speaking out as well? Is homosexuality ok in Islam?

According to Gensis 5:28, Noah was born when his father Lamech was 182 years old.
In Genesis 5:31-32, Lamech died when he was 777 years old and Noah was 500 years old when Lamech died.

However if Lamech died when Noah was 500 years old like the bible says, Lamech would have to have been 682 years old when he died, not 777. I figured this out by adding 500 (noahs age at Lamech's death) to 182 (Lamech's age when noah was born). This simple addition gives you the number 682, not 777.

Another mistake goes like this:
Genesis 1:3-5: God created light and separated it from the darkness on the FIRST day
Genesis 1:14-19: God didn't create light until the FOURTH day

Also:
Genesis 1:11-12, 26-27: Trees were created before man.
Genesis 2:4-9: Man was created before trees.
