Boy, I am not sure, but you better let them know about all those mistakes you found before anymore Bibles are printed...and you are only through Genesis...wow. If I had known about all those I would never have believed in God...NOT.
**JENN
PS - Glad you are combing through the Bible so closely now..one more point for the Christians.

Gen. 5:28 Lamech lived 182, and begot a son (Noah) Gen. 5:30 After he begot Noah, Lamech lived 595. Total 777. Gen. 5:32 Noah was 500 yrs old, Noah begot Shem, Ham, and Japheth. It did not say Noah was 500 when his father died. Gen. 2:8 The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. Tree before man. Gen. 1:14-15 Then God said, "let there be lights (stars) in the firmament of the heavens (heaven) to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 "and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light to the earth", and it was so. try sun, stars, and moon on the fourth day. Sorry to disappoint you, but there are no contradictions in the Bible.

The Bible was written over a 1,600 year period. Its writers lived at different times and came from different backgrounds. Some were farmers, fishermen, and shephards. Others were prophets, judges, and kings. The Gospel writer Luke was a doctor. Despite the varied backgrounds of its writers, the Bible is harmonious from beginning to end.
The sun and moon were in outer space long before the "first creative day" but their light did not reach the surface of the earth for an earthly observer to see. Light gradually came to be visible on earth on this first "day" and the rotating earth began to have alternating days and nights.
What our Creator started in one period of time, did not have to be fully completed when the next period of time began. Light gradually began to appear on the first "day", but it was not until the fourth creative period that the sun, moon, and stars could have been discerned.
The appearance of new varieties of plant life may not have ended on the third creative "day" It could even have been going on into the sixth "day" when God "planted a garden in Eden" and "made to grow out of the ground every tree desirable to one's sight and good for food." (Genesis 2:8-9) And as already stated, the earth's atmosphere cleared on "day" four, so that more light from the sun and other heavenly bodies reached our earth.
As for Noah and his father, Lamech --the Bible account at Genesis 5:32 just tells us how old Noah was when he had his three sons. It does not specify how old Lamech was when his grandchildren were born.
Many try to find fault with God's letter to us, but the Bible stands as totally reliable.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness"--2 TIMOTHY 3:16

Actually, God created the SUN on the forth day, not light. Read it again. Since astrophysics assures us that light was created shortly after the big bang, long before there was any stars, then I don't see why you would think that this was such a difficult thing to grasp (Just type in "cosmic microwave background radiation" in Google).
I am too busy (or lazy) to look up the passage on Lamech and Noah, but I assume that you have simply discovered a minor scribal error that people have been noticing for the past 2000 years or so (yawn). Do you really think that people are going to abandon their faith because you noticed a minor typo in Genesis?

Nowhere in these verses does it state that "Lamech died when he was 777 years old and Noah was 500 years old when Lamech died."
Now it does say... "After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth."
Reread...

I am sure it wasn't God who wrote the bible, because surely God can never make mistakes like these. There is no doubt that the modern day Bible is full with huge blunders, blunders that God can never make.
You pointed out some mistakes in the Bible and here are some more:
In the Bible (a) The "Lord" tempted David . . . 2 SAMUEL 24:1 or "Satan provoked David . . . I CHRONICLES 21:1
(b) 700 or 7000? "Horsemen" or "Footmen" . . . ? 2 Samuel 10:18 vs 1 CHRONICLES 19: 18
(c) Solomon had 2000 baths or 3000 baths? 1 KINGS 7-26 vs 2 CHRONICLES 4:5
(d) Solomon had 4000 stalls of horses or 40000? 2 CHRONICLES 9:25 vs 1 KINGS 4:26
(e) Did Saul enquire of the Lord or didn't he? 1 SAMUELS 28:6 vs 1 CHRONICLES 10:13-14
(f) Heaven, no man hath ascended JOHN 3:13 Contradicted by. 2 KINGS 2:11 Elijah ascended, and GENESIS 5:24 Enoch ascended.
(g) Jesus lost "None" of his disciples JOHN 18:9 Contradicted by. He lost only "One" JOHN 17:12
(h) ALL are sinners 2 CHRONICLES 6:36 Contradicted by: "Whosoever is born of God DOTH NOT commit sin. . ." 1 John 3:9
All this prooves that the modern day Bible, the book Chritians claim to be the word of God is not the word of God but a corrupted form of the book(Injeel) that was revealed to Jesus by God.
Injeel is the book that we Muslims believe was the Book revealed to Jesus by the Almighty God,unfortunately however the Injeel does not exists any more and it's place has been taken by the Bible which contains serious errors, errors which surely Can't be attributed to God.
Any one who wants to learn and practice the teachings of Jesus must read the Quran which is pure from all errors and is a devine message revealed by Allah (God) to lead mankind from darkness to light.

Over 40 different men wrote what we know as The Holy Script. All of these men's stories relate. Each came from different eras and backgrounds, walks of life and parenting. they had different cultures and yet all agreed on many aspects. The Old Testament is accentuated by the New Testament and the irrefutable witness is that God must have inspired men who shared only God in common to write the Holy Ancient Manuscripts. Amazingly, each story glorifies the next. The New fulfills and completes the Old. Many bible accounts give two different views of creation.

WOW - okay this is a question I intend to come back to and read some answers! Amazing work here. I have often been curious about the inconsistencies in the Bible and note how the Bible thumpers never accurately answer the questions. I have faith and believe in God I just believe in a personal walk with God and not the dogma that man puts before congregations!

The Bible was written by people who claimed to see or be apart of what was going on at that time. Its writen by a colaboration of different people from different races, all put together in some mysterious way. The flaws that are there are only because they are different versions of the same story written by different people.
Its hard to say what is the truth in the Bible.
Personally, I do believe in God, but I do not believe in what the Bible TEACHES because of those flaws.
In the Middle Ages, the church was corrupting the Bible in order to make money for the Church, Its hard to say what is real and what is not in there. All you can do is decide for yourself.

What if the publisher's were to stand up and announce it was all a big hoax, that these stories were originally meant as weekend entertainment for bored Jewish people, something like the NYTimes Bestsellers list
