The schools are supposed to teach science, not religion, in science classes. Creationism is not a scientific theory; it is an expression of religious faith and does not belong in schools, just in religious seminaries and in Sunday schools..
.
Whoever these "intellectually superior Christians" are (if they exist at all), they have not "disproved" evolution any more than they have "disproved" the idea that the Earth is round, not flat. However those fundies who really want to cling to medieval beliefs should go to the website of Geocentricity.com where they will find that the Earth doesn't rotate on its axis or revolve around the Sun, oh no, 'coz the Bible doesn't teach these things, de Lawd put the Earth right at the center of the universe, oh yes, praise his name, hallelujah Naturally, this wacko organization is based in Kansas - why am I not surprised?

Evolution is still being taught in schools because it would be far to expensive to replace it, what they should do is to teach both Intelligent design and evolution as they are both plausible theories. However as science moves on more and more evidence is now supporting ID as a more plausible theory.
I myself am not a Christian and I find your put down of people who don't believe in your supernatural God uneducated, in fact if you think yourself as intellectually superior you would understand that to believe in an super invicible invisible being is somewhat bordering on being crazy! Check your book of revelations verse 10:7 it states that 'The mystery of God should be finished'!

Because the phrase "intellectually superior Christian" is an oxymoron. and people who believe that these self-proclaimed experts have disproved anything other than their own intelligence are just morons.

Evolution is still being taught in schools because despite the obvious proof that it is not, it is still being touted as a science. Really!
In order to be a science, something must be able to
1) be observed, and
2) be repeated in a controlled environment- a lab.
Hmmmm, well as the experts themselves say, "Oh! You can't see evolution occurring- it is much too gradual!" Thank you, Captain Obvious! That rules out condition number one, so I don't have to go on, but I will for the sake of argument. Have any evolution experiments (not counting cruel and imbecelic mutations) EVER succeeded? Nope. Nary a one. Name me one true incident, and I will apologize...maybe.
Despite these shortcomings in the scientific field, evolutionists refuse to accept the fact that they are just really trying to prove a religion, the same as the Creationists. All they have is faith to go on. Faith that the writings of a seminary drop-out desperately trying to rid the world of the God that he once wanted to serve are true. I'm sorry, but it is just pathetic, and I don't mean that sarcastically. It is truly sad how tenaciously these men and women cling to their outdated evolution mumbo-jumbo, even after respected people in their own circles say things that are discouraging to the faith.

I suppose because the evidence the "intellectually superior Christians" put forward wasn't sufficient enough to prove or disprove anything.

Because the loonies have taken over the asylum !!!
Evolution was only ever a theory & then one that the author himself came to realise was not possible. You can believe you 're ancestor was a monkey or whatever but the fact of the creation having a CREATOR will be ackowledged by all in eternity !

Because they haven't. Their superior proof is belief. Whereas Evolution is based on observation of what is real, not belief.
There is a religion that suggests that if you believe you will be saved. And it is not Christianity. Should people convert to Islam, B'hai, Mumbo Jumbo or any of the other religions out there that say the same thing that Christianity say, just because if you believe in that religion you are saved?

Because its a state religion. You don't mess with the state religion. Never. That's what Galileo did remember?
You can't ever put stickers on text books that say to, "Think critically about the contents of this book"
