He wrote the first Gospel. Why did he not mention anything about this?

Have you not read Mark chapter 16?

ADDITION:
I am not trying to be rude, but before people answer this question they should look at the Gospel of Mark. Yes it is believed that Mark could have been the earliest Gospel, written sometime between 50 - 70 AD. Obviously the resurrection had taken place and Mark wrote about it from eyewitness testimony of Peter.

Mark is the earliest gospel. They knew nothing about the resurrection since it never happened, of course. The resurrection is a later invention of the primitive church.

No one knows. I like the ambiguous ending, personally....

ADDITION:

Mark777, the earliest manuscripts of Mark don't have chapter 17. It was a later addition, probably written to bring it into harmony with later writings like Matthew.

"Mark777" got it right -- the entirety of Chapter 16 is devoted to the resurrection.
