I have to admit, I've become discouraged with religion. Some of the people I encountered in business who were religious, seemed to have no conscience - at all. And some of the worst instances came from people of my own denomination, Catholic.

I'm not saying that being religious makes you unethical - I'm sure I've benefitted from people who were quietly faithfull, and very ethical. But frankly, from what I've seen, it doesn't seem to make much difference. If you can't be decent and honest in the workplace, how much good can weekly church service be doing?

Honestly, I like the ethics of the atheist. They treat you ethically - not because they were told to do so, not because they are given a reward for doing so, but because it's right in and of itself.

Ethics came first.
Religion wrapped itself around it.
