Some answers I see others give to questions here make me sad. I see so many people who seem to be searching for God . yet hide behind anger or gross humor ........ they try to shock with morbid or detailed explicit answers trying to generate some feelings from the posters of Christian questions. To me , the fact that they would do such a thing .gives me HOPE...whaen people do things like that .it shows they are really looking to fit in . but dont think they can . or that God is available to them. Maybe they think they are TOO BAD for GOD . that everyone else is better than them . that they are hopeless . so they might as well mock it .
Well , You need to hear that it is not true . NONE of us are worth God's love ....... yet He does love every last one of us . EVEN the ones who speak so loudly against Him .....Even You fit in with Him . with us .....No one is TOO BAD for GOD to love. If you take the time to read the book of Mark in the New Testament of the Bible .You will see.

Nicely stated, and thank you for sharing your thoughts. I believe that you wrote that out of compassion.

But the truth is, I don't believe there is a God--not yours or any of the thousands of other deities worshiped by other religions. I don't feel bad about this. It doesn't make me sad. I don't feel that I lack anything because of my unbelief. (Does it make you sad that you don't believe in Zeus or Osiris?) I live my life by the guidance of reason and compassion. I am a human being, with all the weaknesses and strengths that come with being such, but I try my best to live a moral, useful, and fulfilling life. I don't worry about hell because I don't believe there is such a place. I don't believe in heaven. Experience tells me that this life, right now, is probably all we get. And because life is all too short, I feel it's important to make the best use of the time I have. I believe in following the Golden Rule, which many different cultures have embraced. I try to be a good husband, a good grandfather, good employee, good friend, etc. I just don't feel the need for God's love, or the acceptance of any deity. I'm not afraid to live without religion. When I need help, I know I can turn to modern medicine, my friends and family, and my community. There are some things that cannot be helped, and I accept that. I don't ask for miracles, just the chance to live my life my way, so long as I show others the same courtesy.

I'm delighted that you have found a faith that fills your spiritual needs. I have chosen a different path, one which I believe to be the best one for me.

No, I feel like Christian proselytising is annoying, hateful, offensive, and disrespectful to the beliefs and opinions of others. I will do whatever it takes to get their arrogant, condescending, and self-righteous attitudes away from me. I find them vile and contemptuous. That is why I try to shock Christians.

Christians tell me I am unworthy of God's love, and only by joining their religion can I be "saved" from a Hell I don't even believe exists. Christians have manufactured an invisible, unprovable problem, and try to sell an invisible, unprovable cure. Christianity is nothing but a scam. That is why I try to shock Christians. That, and I get off on it.

You misinterpret the anger.

It's not directed at god.

It's directed at Christians and theists.

They (some anyway) are the ones who tend to harass and insult those who do not believe they way they do.

Why would I say anything for/against god, since I don't really consider that he/she exists.

Reading the bible would make no difference. I've read it, cover to cover, probably about three times. That, combined with three years in a fundamentalist church is what got me to thinking about the idea of Faith and why we would take something on Faith in the first place. It's why I hold no belief in a god - I see no compelling or substantial evidence to support such a belief.

It's not about mocking anyone for me. I just really can't stand it when someone attacks another persons beliefs. In my opinion it's christians who seem the most guilty of hatred when in fact they are supposed to "love thy neighbor". The fact is when someone posts a question on here asking about Wicca or another religion, the God Squad goes straight into the "you're going to hell" speech. Quite frankly, I want no part of a religion that only accepts people who believe the same things they believe, doesn't allow any questioning (how boring) and tries to convert people through fear and by attacking them. Like you, I believe that god loves each and every one of us. I don't however believe that my best friend who happens to be gay is any less worthy of heaven than anyone else. I don't believe that another friend of mine is going to hell because he is Jewish (yes I was actually told this, quite matter of factly by a catholic priest) and I certainly don't believe women aren't capable of becoming priests. I love God I just hate religion.

Actually, lots of people use shock because they are simply sick of hearing people preach to them.

I absolutely HATE going to a public fair and hearing some creep with a megaphone or yelling, and preaching about Christ. It's disruptive and demeaning to Christians. Such people only inspire anger and make the Christian church look like prostitutes in search of tricks.

EVERYONE knows where to find a church if they want one. EVERYONE knows where to find a Bible if they want one.
EVERYONE knows how fundamentalists feel about homosexuals.
EVERYONE knows that fundamentalists teach that we "need to be saved".

Screaming out your message EVERYWHERE only inspires anger and a desire to get rid of the intrusive people screaming this everywhere. We DON"T WANT TO HEAR IT anymore than you want to hear how stupid you are for believing in a God from atheists.

I'm not against Christianity. I believe in freedom of religion. I just hate hearing continually either "Believe or burn" or "there ain't no god". I'm quite sick of both.

Not everyone is Christian, you know. Those who seemingly hide behind mockery and humor may just simply be smart a$$es or they are trying to make light of the situation. It seems as though Christians fight to make others believe what they believe. When non-Christians are constantly nagged to believe in this & that, it starts to become annoying and in turn the Christians look desperate and "stupid", for lack of a better term. Telling people to read scripture is not going to help your cause....they'll laugh at that also. Maybe just leaving people alone and letting them believe what they want would diminish the attacks on Christians. Let it be.

That's all well and good, except for the fact that I seriously, honestly, do not believe that God exists. It has nothing to do with "feeling unworthy" or thinking that God wouldn't want me -- I genuinely feel that there is no such being. That's all there is to it.

God loves me. I know this in my heart. I am worthy of His love.

I could never shock a Christian as I do not have a medical license and ECT - electroconvulsive therapy- which most Christians need can only be performed by a licensed physician.

To me this place is for entertainment. It is meant to be a free-for-all. Personally, I'm not trying to shock anyone. But I do try to provide honest and, to the extent that I can, humorous answers. If you feel you need a site where there is more reverence, there are many on the net that are strictly moderated and would quickly dispatch a scoundrel like me.
