I am Canadian and have noticed that many Americans on this site say they have a Christian Government. Do you say that only because Bush is suppose to be a Christian? What about all those in other Government position, like Congress. How do you know what they are?

Now i'm not talking about a known (recognized religon) version of these places, and no i'm not gonna get all cheesy and say this world is what you make it.
But really, from my casual perspectives, people "talk" about hell much more than heaven, off the top of my head i can think of many examples of hell and few of heaven.
One of the more interesting definitions of hell i remember is one where the punishment fits the crime (s) of a person's life.
So, every "sinner" gets their own personal hell, by this and applying simple ying and yang, don't you think people could get their own personal heaven?

(However would this be a negative re-enforcement strategy?)

If you have follow my posts... what happened is that I have decided to confront my girlfriend that I have been having sex with her best friend. Her best friend is a very devout Chrsitian girl and we have lots in common. My girlfriend does not understand this concept and I have attempted to educate her on the meaning of being a good Christian.

My dilemma is that I really enjoy having sex with this girl. Should I make a clean break and leave my girlfriend and be with this girl. I believe I might have sinned but it is with a Christian girl not a non-believer, Christ will understand this concept.

.
I'm spiritual, non-denominational. I'm gifting myself with the adventure of attending an overnight New Years retreat in the Bay Area ~ ~ We will be gathering with others at a Zen retreat and sharing meditation through the evening, at mid-night and awakening early for early morning meditation. I do meditate, yet not, as yet, to the deeper level that they do as at this Zen meditation center. We're leaving to drive to the Bay Area this afternoon and looking forward to it.

My question is this . . . I attended a half day meditation there some weeks back and noticed that some, including women, had their hair shaved off.

Why do they do this.? I'm respecting of persons of all faiths and sometimes wonder why a person of a certain faith does something so, just wondering.

Do you know why persons in the Buddha faith shave the hair on their head off? Appreciate insight.

This is the definition of perfect, I suggest you read it before you give me a poor answer.

If god was truly perfect, he would not have created anything...It makes no sense. He would have been 100% omnipotently, omnisciently complete. If he created something the only direction he could go would be to become imperfect.

Just two questions: Do you think the people in N.O. saw Katrina coming 3 weeks before she crashed the party? Do you think the people in Indonesia and Thailand even knew they would be met with such a fate hours before the tsunami came?

Is that true too?

Considering how immoral everybody is, he ought to be sitting back in his fiery underground lair, perfectly assured that every human being on the planet is lining up outside his door--and why would he make a deal and offer you something for a soul he's going to get anyway?

'If your brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife tries to secretly entice you, telling you to go and worship other gods, gods of people living near you, or far from you, or anywhere on earth, do not listen to him. 'You must kill them. Show them no pity. And your hand must strike the first blow.'

'If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not listen to the voice of his father......or his mother......even when they punish him......his father and mother must take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town.'They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard. All the men of the town must then stone him to death. You must banish this evil from among you.'

'If two men are fighting...'...and the wife of one man rescues her husband from his assailant by grabbing his testicles...'...you must cut off her hand. Show her no pity.'

I have a question for Jehova's Witnesses

1. Why are you always approaching people?
2. When you approach people, why do you try to HIDE who you are?
A. With lines such as "have you heard of the red sea?"
B. "Do you believe in God?"
C. "Can I ask you about Jesus?"
And so on...
When the ONLY reason you are approaching people, is to get people to join your "church."
You people knock at my front door, every weekend. You people send your children, dressed in suits, in 90 degree heat, while you wait in an airconditioned car, to me in a city park. You people stand in front of gas stations, approach me in the mall, at Dunkin Donuts, and so-on, and so-on. Never have I, or anyone else, asked you to approach us, with your literature, Watchtower tucked inside somewhere, only to talk about your so-called "church."

WE do not approach YOU! We do not want to be approached. To approach us means DANGER. We do not know who you are, what you want.

What is your problem? Do you NOT understand GO AWAY??

Christianity was about individual enlightenment until the 4th or 5th century. Thanks to Pope Gregory is becomes less about enlightenment and more about controlling the masses.

One of the reasons that gnosticism is considered heresy is because that kind of Christianity gives too much power to the individual.

We see proof of that here everyday. The fundamentalists know nothing about enlightenment.

I watched "The Real Mary Magdalene" on the National Geographic channel this morning. I took notes, which included pausing and rewinding many times.
