Every year (like it or not) Christmas becomes less and less a religious holiday...and mas y mas a soulless carnival suffering the cold of queueing up for something in Harrods that cost £12,000 a fortnight ago, but only £1,200 on the 27th of December.
During the year we may display caring about things other than ourselves - but come Yuletide, we drop all our pretences of modesty and become our most authentic selves - wiping our mouths on the silk curtains whilst we do it...
...is this why some of us sneer at how the less extreme Muslims go about their faith?
