I am Canadian and have noticed that many Americans on this site say they have a Christian Government. Do you say that only because Bush is suppose to be a Christian? What about all those in other Government position, like Congress. How do you know what they are?

They say that because they want to believe it, obviously it is not true. How on Earth they can say this and mean it is beyond me. They obviously missed school the day they were supposed to learn about separation of church and state.

There is actually a Muslim congressman that took his oath on a Koran instead of a Bible.

Those saying we have a "Christian government" are engaging in wishful thinking. Bush is a dry alcoholic; he's using Jesus to keep him from drinking. Beyond that I fail to see much from him that would qualify him as a Christian. Congress and the Senate is made up of men and women of all faiths, although the Christian Right has been working very hard to get its people in there; the rejection of a large number of so-called "Christian" Republicans in the last election shows how well that worked out. Fortunately, at least for now, the Constitution forbids the formation of a religion-based government; the born-agains are also working hard to circumvent that. Should they ever succeed, I will be happy to become a Canadian citizen.

Because this country is founded on Christian pricipals. Most Americans have moral and values and try to elect politians who have the same values. Most Americans elect their same faith and since most Americans are some denomination of christians. You are gonna get a majority of Christians. Its common sense. Just like in the Middle East. Not to many Christains in their governments is there? Same with Canada I bet if you looked at the people that get elected most of them are Christians.

This country was built on Christian values. The founding fathers were all Christian men who saw fit to support the moral values and principals of the Bible resulting in a better life for all. Have you ever looked at American money? It says "In God We Trust". We were founded by people who trusted in God. This is who we are! This is why we are great! When we lose this concept we will cease to be a great nation " under God with liberty for all." God bless America! The reason is not Bush at all! Most, if not all our presidents were Christians! It is because Christianity is the building block used to create the American government!

They believe all the for fathers where Christian. Most people who are running for office will stop at Churches for support. I feel though we are a Christian nation because of the similarity of laws and the ten commandments. Like Thou shall not kill etc.

The reason we claim to have a Christian government is because the majority of the country bases its laws off of Christian ideas. What I mean by this is that we reject laws because of ideas from Christianity. This interferes with our freedoms sometimes. It causes many problems and many senseless decisions. That is why so many are unhappy with the fact that it is so Christian.

Personally I just think Bush claims to be a Christian to get the support of the "moral majority"! Alot of christians will vote for anyone who says he is against abortion, gay marriage, and other "moral issues" (whether or not he does anything about them). He is trying to pull the wool over our eyes...but I don't think he's fooling anyone- he's just a wolf in sheep's clothing!

Jesus said something about rejecting the laws of his people, yet his people now claim that U.S. law is based on the very laws that Jesus rejected....

Don't try to mix logic and Christianity -- you'll get a migraine!
