this is a two sided questions. I dont necessarily believe that the priesthood exists with every believer. I think the spirit of God is among them that believe but not authority to act in his name. I think there has to be a calling and an ordination. I know there are two types of priesthoods the lesser one is given by hands on ordination and the second one is given by an oath.

I recognize this is a thought experiment, but please consider it.

If the promise of Christianity contained no immortality, but instead you died and your body decomposed just like a toad's, squirrel's, or dingo's, would there be enough in Christianity to keep you within the faith?

I recently came out of the broom closet to my dad. He is a Christian minister and so are both of his parents. I got my license a few months ago, but not in Christian ministry. Anyway, he says the Witchcraft thing doesn't bother him, but he doesn't want me telling any of the family friends about it, even if they ask, and he doesn't want me to wear any of my Pagan jewelry, including my Pentacle around them. I cannot take off my Pentacle unless I am sleeping, showering or doing athletic stuff. Plus I have one tattooed on the back of my neck, so now I cannot wear my hair up around his friends either. Do you think my dad is out of line here? I think I should be allowed to be myself. My dad has a gay brother and he was asked to "not flaunt his sexuality in front of people" and now they don't speak anymore. Should I adhere to my dad's wishes, or should I be myself and not care what anyone thinks?

Most western civilization doesn't respect their ancestors, parents & elders as they r not able to show them the right path towards a real life.
Is this true?

What I mean is:
Is stealing a car different from stealing a pencil?
Is murdering a child worse than killing an old person?
Is attacking a clergyman worse than hurting someone else?

If possibly, please explain the logic and/or biblical knowledge that you used to come to your conclusion.

This is one of the biggest lies ever. Can anyone of you provide evidence using the Qur'an or the hadith to prove we are worshipping the moon god? If anyone who does not know about Islam picks up the Qur'an, he/she will get the impression that Allah is All-powerful. This is what happens when you are spoon-fed evangelical drivel. You listen to dumb people, your mind becomes dumb, you read a junky book, your mind becomes junky.
None of you can provide evidence from the Qur'an that we worship the moon god. On page one of the OT, the word Allah appears 17 times, so does that mean the Christian Arabs are worshipping the moon god. Allah was not one of the 360 idols of the Ka'abah but as you all know, evangelicals do not mind telling the biggest lies when it comes to attacking Islam. After becoming so junky by all of this evanglical bs, their minds cannot even grasp the simple fact the Christian and Jewish Arabs call God Allah.

How is it that Atheists can live easily and happily without worrying about any sort of relationship with God, but Believers find that concept so horrifying they cower at the thought?

Is it a personality difference? Does religion attract the insecure?

Most likely it's because they all put more emphasis on their Prophets rather than God himself.

I've been investigating the Catholic faith and really love it overall, and I'm also taking RCIA classes (for adults interested in learning about and possibly becoming Catholic), but it really bugs me that the priests are allowed to smoke. I don't think any of them in my parish here do, but I used to live across the street from a priest and I saw him smoking all the time. Aren't they supposed to be some sort of role model for people or something, what kind of example is that? I've been debating whether I like my current church, the Mormon church (which I'm not really active in) or the Catholic church better, and the Mormons say that "the body is a temple" and should be respected basically. The Catholics may not have the exact same quote, but I'm sure they have a similar belief, so wouldn't that contradict with the fact that they let their priests (and nuns) smoke and destroy their bodies? Thanks for your answer.

The only possibility is an afterlife, but he is not needed in our present world. In fact, all the suffering and hardships of the world strongly suggest the world functioning without a god.

High energy floods deposit large sediments in layers and can be traced back through time. If there was a world wide deluge as claimed by creation "science" there would be a universal, world wide layer of sediments and sedimentary rocks everywhere except for regions of recent (since the flood) volcanism. Is there such a layer?
Can you give me any non-creationist links that demonstrate this?
