How is it that Atheists can live easily and happily without worrying about any sort of relationship with God, but Believers find that concept so horrifying they cower at the thought?

Is it a personality difference? Does religion attract the insecure?

I don't know man...When i was a Christian I was always scared...and Anger is a sign of Fear so anytime I come in contact with an Angry Christian I know the only reason they are angry is because they are scared. As an Atheist I feel very secure...even though most Christians won't believe that. but I don't fear death and I don't stress things as much as they do.

You are generalizing way to much to make any real point here.

A lot of religious people can live easily and happily without worrying about any sort of relationship with God. They just happen to have it as a part of their lives.

I have also seen atheists that were not the happiest people I ever came across.

Creating a version of reality that supports your biases may feel comfortable but its not way to find the truth.

Man, that is great question! I am an atheist and I look around me at all these religious folks and just shake my head. I am totally and completely happy with what I believe in and every atheist I know feels the same way. The only people who seem to be filed with fear, hate and worry are Christians. Just look at all their questions on this board! They are so afraid of their own beliefs!

Me? I just sit back and relax in comfort of science, philosophy and evolution and watch the religious crazies battle it out.

There is no life without God so I cannot fear something that is not real. Just as an atheist does not fear consequences of not believing in God because you do not believe He is real. I am very secure because my life is for God.

Happy New Year.

i think religion partly attracts but also creates the insecure, the worship services and ways of thought only make insecurities worse and create feelings of worthlessness without it's "god," or in other words outside of the religion.

We don't fear the non believers/atheists we fear God. It is quite apparent you are either trying to impress with your question or you are atheist. We as Christians are suppose to pray for non believers, but, they have the world in such turmoil that we are too busy praying for the pain inflicted on others by those people. madeline murray o'hare we all know what happened to her.
She lost her way and we don't know if she had her 11th hour.

Or maybe more honesty about those fears.

Insecurity is a result of our need for God. Sin created it and only God can bring it to a healthy end.

We do not love Him because of our fears. "Fear not" and "Do not be afraid" are very often repeated sayings in the Bible. This is realtionship thing this is not a religion thing.

We all have a free will. I chose mine to be with God. Here and after.

Chrisians live to make their lives better. Athiest's do as well, but they live without God, so they don't know what it's like to know that they're going to heaven when they die.

for a christian it is comparable to walking around with the light on verses walking around with the light off. Once you have been given sight you never want to go back to being blind.
