That question is really interesting, it gave me chance to think, and i think, the youth really have no respect for their elders, (but not all youth). that is because
Youth's thinking is molded by peers, and over dependence on the system for help.
Lack of good parental role models,
Demands on parents to have two jobs, hence less time spent with kids,
Unsafe society for kids to play on their own, it is funny children are supervised when they play, i find that really wierd.
Children are told to report if parents are loud or spank them, they call this abuse, hence children control parents,
Parents in turn do not take care of their parents,
All counseling is done by professionals and this learnig comes from parents in the east, hence children have less respect for their parents,
But there are so many things extremely good in the west which the east is lacking. i will not say this as i want to stick to your answer,

I can only speak for the area of the US that I live in. It is true that many younger people don't respect their ancestors, parents, and elders. It's sad. But I have no idea what you're talking about in the rest of your statement.

I agree with the first part about the youth not respecting their elders but I blame that on peer groups, Television and music having such an integral part of a child's upbringing as most families have to have both parents working to support the household. I think the decline in leadership from one or both parents has paved the way for indifference from our children.

(2Timothy 3:1-to-7) This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

(2Ti 3:2) For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

(2Ti 3:3) Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

(2Ti 3:4) Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

(2Ti 3:5) Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

(2Ti 3:6) For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

(2Ti 3:7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Thanks, RR

I do know kids today are rotten. Parents rather be there kids friend than to be a parent. Kids are lazy because the parents don't give them responiabilties. Not saying this about all kids and parents but for the biggest part there is more bad kids and parents than not. Kids don't have respect for there parents and elders at all, but you cannot blame just the kids for this. Its the parents who raised them this way.

My ancestors where lost and living without Christ in their life as thier Savior, I do not have to live that misguided life that they lived. I am a born again Christian, and my ancestors were not. None of my ancestors were taught salvation through acceptance of Jesus as their Savior. They were raised Catholic, and lived in Poland.

I don't think it is true. I think Western cultures live for the present and the future and are not as tied to their ancestors as Easterners are. Basically, what is my dead grandfather going to do for me today?

Yes, it started when parents wanted to give their children what they wanted and stopped teaching the children the value of hard work and respect. Most children have turned into gimmes. I say most because my children were taught to work for what they want and to respect their elders.

but u r indian so u find it
more complicated, otherwise they have
their own standards for living life.
so some / many of them are ok with
their living style.
and only those people don't respect
their parents who need their parents' love
or support and cannot have.
