The bible seems to always reference the "infamous kiss" in Gethsemane as the kiss that gave away Jesus. What i don't understand is why would Judas have to kiss or point out Jesus? Jesus never lived a secret life, implying everyone knew who he was. So why would Judas have to point him out (with the kiss)

If magic is so powerful (and could be used to help people), why doesn't the Christian god just turn it into something that works through him rather than his adversary?

I know it's a bit of a tacky question. But after analyzing some data from a recent survey, I'm dying to know how accurate the results were.

Please tell:

Your age...
what state you live in...
how often you go to church...
what denomination (if any) you are...

I'm aware and respect the value of core teachings of the Buddah faith, yet wonder of Buddha himself and how he 'came to be'.

Please correct me politely if I make a mistake.
Listed below are statements showing that for many people (note that I said many, not all) people just celebrate Christmas as a ritual and such, not really touching their spirit with Christ.

Many non-believers in God celebrate Christmas.
Did you know that most businesses and companies would fall if there were no such holiday as Christmas? They depend on this holiday to make most of their money. (That explains why decorations get more elaborate every year.)
Many 'Christians' just go to church during Christmas and some other holidays like Easter. Shouldn't they go to church every week?
I know many people really do enjoy Christ during this time and 'celebrate' his birth, but in the Bible, doesn't it state that He would rather us be glad from His death, because that was what freed us from eternal punishment?
Why do we need a special day to celebrate Christ? Why can't we enjoy and 'celebrate' Him everyday? ( W/out all the distractions)

My boss at work keeps asking me about going to church with him, and he wants to help me accept Christ into my life. All of this came out of me saying that I was interested in reading the Bible. I respect all religions, but I don't feel a need to be a part of one....what should I do??? I don't want to be rude.....

Doesn't God have the right to create and destroy?
In fact he doesn't need to ask you.
You are filled with judgement about what is right and wrong, and will you tell God what he must accept, and that He cannot judge?

I'm thinking seriously about moving to Boston within the upcoming year. I'm only 18 right now, but as soon as I finish my AA degree out here in California, I want to either attend boston University, Boston Baptist University, or the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. I plan on becoming a psychiatrist and also getting a degree in biblical counseling while writing novels on the side. Is boston the place for me?? I was thinking of Allston specifically.

There are undoubtedly many christians who do not accept biological evolution. This question regards another issue, which is not directly related to evolution. How many of you accept the fact that the earth and universe are actually billions of years old, as is life? How many of you believe that they are younger, because of the single word "day" in Genesis. (which was translated from a dead language.)

If you do think that the earth and universe are younger, how do you explain all of the overwhelming cosmological and geological evidence to the contrary? And why cling to such a literal viewpoint when so much of the Bible involves metaphors?

What's your ultimate life goal? Are you scared where you will be after you die - are you prepared for that? Would you be sad if God replaced us with a new creation which would be obvioulsy better than us?

i know i am. There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she's blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He's always there for her. She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry her boyfriend.
One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she could see everything, including her boyfriend.
Her boyfriend asked her, "now that you can see the world, will you marry me?" The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend is blind too, and refused to marry him.
Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying. "Just take care of my eyes dear."

This is how the human brain changes when our status changes. Only a few remember what life was like before and who's always been there even in the most painful situations.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Life Is A Gift
Today before you think of saying an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to God for a companion.

Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to heaven.

Before you complain about your children - Think of someone who desires children but they're barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn't clean or sweep - Think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive - Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another -
Remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and thank God you're alive and still around.

I would like to know if there really is any difference between these two groups? I know that both started from the same roots and have similar philosophies such as being anti-Israel, anti-Zionist, Israeli flag burning and meeting with known arab terrorists who want to destroy Israel. But seems Sat Mar at some times tries to distance itslef when its convieient but will walk hand in hand when it suits them. Can anyone offer any clarification?
