If magic is so powerful (and could be used to help people), why doesn't the Christian god just turn it into something that works through him rather than his adversary?

Because the Christians use a few mistranslated quotes from a book with very unliteral and poetical meaning to say that it's evil.
Everybody else just laughs at them and remebers to cast wisely.

reason 1:Because people take control of thier own lives by using magic and christians dont like it when people think for themselves,

reason 2: is because magic can be used agianst a christian with a nasty attitude towards Pagans ;)

Reason 3: is because they think that Jesus is the only one allowed to use magic, they are somehow too *lowly* to utilize such a privledge.

Reason 4: is because christians understand nature to be evil and since magic is touted as natural it is also considered evil.

Reason 5: christians believe magic comes from Satan and not God.

Reason 6: christians believe that you shouldnt play with things you dont understand

Reason 7: Old testament bible passage making instant enemies to magic casters.

Reason 8: some magic users use it for dark or selfish purposes, and christians automatically assume that most people think on thier darker, baser natures anyways.

Reason 9: another bible passage about Jehovah being jealous, and also jealous of magic users ( I think i remeber reading that somewhere)

Reason 10: Because it gives christians something to be jealous of themselves, if someone had a talent they couldnt have then they figure: why should anyone have it?

Can't understand that myself.

Magic is working with energy. Intent moves that energy to do whatever it is you want it to do. Belief that you can move that energy to perform your intent is basic to all human nature. We heat water with fire, we use wind to create energy from windmills, we harness the energy of the atom to light out cities. Yes, we can not understand the simple manipulation of using energy ourselves to heal, to manifest our needs or fulfill our desires.

Interesting, isn't it, that they allow special people in the bible to work "magic" but not the everyday man. No, it happened long ago, it doesn't happen now.

But these are the same folks who deny science. And wasn't some of our science once considered magic?

If anyone can really answer this question, I will be very surprised. I think it's fear. Fear of losing control, so tell them they can't do it, and they will not. Threaten their immortal soul with words, and they will believe it and not do it.

Well, some of us don't believe that any "devil" controls magic other than some people who deny it out of fear. They are the real "devils" here.

To them, let them live in a world without magic.

You see miracles from your God, but we find magic everywhere.

God does "magic" every day. We just call these works , "miracles". You would never believe all the miracles that God has done in my life.

The difference between miracles and magic is that those things which God does in our world ARE FOR GOOD, while magic is most often done for personal money or selfish good.

God tells us that ALL GOOD THIINGS come from Him.

James 1:17
17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
(from New International Version)

On the other hand, research the long time effect of "magic".

It's labeled the "work of the devil" because of people who fear it through ignorance, or through contact with people who misuse it and caused problems.

Anybody who knows better knows that if you conduct yourself carefully, being careful what you summon, etc. in ritual and you keep in mind the rule of 3 it isn't the work of a "devil" unless you choose to call demonic-type deities or spirits.

According to Catholicism they believe they DO use it to help people by cornering the market on ritual and use it during "Mass", to exorcise evil spirits and so on, but they just don't CALL it "magick". They don't admit to robbing the pagan elements and using them for their own agenda, but they did.

God's miracles through Jesus brought about freedom from the effects of sin....healing the sick, making the blind see, letting the lame walk,. even bringing the dead back to life. Other miracles show compassion and love to the needy.
----
It may be that a person has a hobby of performing tricks that have nothing to do with real magic or demonism. It may be that one simply employs sleight-of-hand tricks or those involving illusions. So if one were merely showing how adroit a person may be with his hands, with no pretense of any magic, there may be no objection to such entertainment.
----
However,One might duplicate by trickery real magical feats that are performed by demons, such as levitation, moving objects mysteriously, ectoplasmic materializations, and so forth. Such could lead into involvement with wicked spirit forces because it is playing at what the demons actually do.
----
What good does magic bring? Nothing.
-----
“‘YOU must not look for omens, and YOU must not practice magic."-Leviticus 19:26

There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead. -Deuteronomy 18:10-11

These are works of the devil because through it the Devil and demons mislead us and turn us away from the true worship. Those practices may seem hramful but leads us farther away fro m the truth about God.

You get nothing for nothing.

If you heal someone, are you willing to bear that would-be suffering? Because there's a good possibility you will. If not today, then sometime and someplace later.

If one thinks about it in this respect, I hope they will conclude that magic, in the sense I think you mean it, doesn't end up helping anyone.

That's how I feel on these things.

this is all a matter of theory
see i dont even believe in magic...i believe there is illusion but not magic...the eyees often decieve so it is wiser to use our other senses as well for better judgement...
this is one track thinking to say that magic is the work of the devil..it is theory with no exeptions and such a theory cannot stand the test of time...if you choose to not expand it then it becomes completely invalid if you know what i am saying.

Because christians are unable to comprehend the fact that if God exists, it's possible that there are a lot of them, and they (christians) don't have the market on religion.

10There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.

deuteronomy 18:10
God is almighty he does not need magic , he can do anything.magic is just what the devil uses to mimic God , but the devil will never have as much power as God because the devil is created, the devil will never cure anybody or do any good to anyone and because the devil hates the human race he tries to deceive people offering some sort of power through magic ,but its all a lie ,the people who get involved into magic even the"white magic "are making themselves slaves of the devil .and seriously ,wich side would you rather be? the side of the devil who is a loser condemned to burn in hell , or the side of jesuschrist who defeated sin , death and the devil .
because Jesus loves so much he doesnt want you to go to hell , wich by the way he created for the devil not for you.Jesuschrist gave his life for you and resurrected again so you could with only accepting him as your saviour be saved and able to go to heaven and even have power against the devil through the name of Jesuschrist and his sacrifice on the cross. trust me , is really cool to know that i no longer have to be scared of the devil ,because since i converted to Jesuschrist the devil is scared of me cause Jesus gave me authorithy to throw the devil out in Jesus name ,but whats cooler is that my name is written in the book of life and if i die right now i know i'm going to heaven ,and if i last more time in the earth everyday of my life i got Jesus by my side to help me overcome anything .so my advice :convert to Jesus.
