Please correct me politely if I make a mistake.
Listed below are statements showing that for many people (note that I said many, not all) people just celebrate Christmas as a ritual and such, not really touching their spirit with Christ.
Many non-believers in God celebrate Christmas.
Did you know that most businesses and companies would fall if there were no such holiday as Christmas? They depend on this holiday to make most of their money. (That explains why decorations get more elaborate every year.)
Many 'Christians' just go to church during Christmas and some other holidays like Easter. Shouldn't they go to church every week?
I know many people really do enjoy Christ during this time and 'celebrate' his birth, but in the Bible, doesn't it state that He would rather us be glad from His death, because that was what freed us from eternal punishment?
Why do we need a special day to celebrate Christ? Why can't we enjoy and 'celebrate' Him everyday? ( W/out all the distractions)

I say I am a non-denominational Christian to help people understand my beliefs, but many people bug me and go like, 'Well if ur Christian why don't you celebrate Christmas? Don't you find it kind of odd?'
I am not 'religious' because I don't have a religion. I just 'eat' Christ and enjoy Him and His Word.

I celebrate Christmas and I am an atheist. Christmas is mostly a secular religion. Christian stole the religion from the people who worshipped Mithras who stole it from the people who worshipped Saturn who stole it from some other sun god and so on. In reality, Christmas is just a solstice celebration. It celebrate life continuing through winter, which is why evergreen trees, mistletoe, and holly are used. Those plants stay green through winter.

This is the information age, as this forum beautifully illustrates. People are now more aware than ever that both Christmas and Easter originally had nothing to do with Christ. They were pagan festivals, celebrating the winter solstice and goddess of fertility (Eostre), respectively. There came a time in history when a choice had to be made between paganism and Christianity. Christianity won out. Political and church leaders met to decide what holidays would be observed, and when. They placed them into times of pagan celebration to undermine the pagans' belief system. As a Secular Humanist, I do not believe that Jesus was born on December 25th, nor do I believe that he was the son of God. A great man, yes, but not the son of God. Nor do I believe that he rose from the dead. For this reason, at Christmas, any time I contemplate doing something...cooking a turkey, decorating a tree, giving a gift or receiving one...I ask myself, "Would I be considering doing this if it was not Christmas"? If the answer is no, I don't do it. The rest of the year, I work very hard at doing nice things for other people for no reason at all.
I believe that people love to celebrate. All people. The life of a non-believer is not devoid of celebration, it's just different because anyone can celebrate anything at any time.

I am a born-again, "spirit filled" Christian from many generations of Christians.....and I don't even buy presents for Christmas or go to parties to celebrate. All I do is go to the Christmas Service at the church where I fellowship each week.
I believe that God didn't give us the specific date of Jesus birth because He knew what a mess we would make of it.
But who knows. maybe a couple of people each year will get the message of God's love shown in Jesus Christ and find out how great is our God. So, let the celebrations continue....

There is actually no where in the Bible that it says to celebrate His birth or His death. We are to worship Him, remember Him, pray thru Him, and may others but no where does it say celebrate. I find it amazing and appropriate that the secular world has chosen a day to celebrate the birth of Christ. But ... his birth would have more likely been in a warmer month. My father has explained this to me a few times but I'm sorry that I can not explain this myself. If Christmas is a time to celebrate his birth, then how did flying reindeer and magical elves and St. Nick get mixed up in it. Easter is suppose to be observed as the day He arose from the dead. So how did colored eggs and the Easter Bunny get mixed up in this. I'm almost positive that Santa at Christmas and the Easter Bunny are just gimmicks to sell merchandise. I do not want anyone who reads this to think I'm anti-anything. I am just making observations. Christ's birth and Resurrection should be observed daily and not on just one day of the year. But as I said, it is amazing that even those who have no spiritual affiliation would celebrate.

I hold the religious leaders for this decline in the fabric of what makes up December 25th -- CHRISTmas.
Not only because they have failed to preserve this day, but because they have failed to do more than just meet and talk.
CHRISTIANITY is the greatest religion of the entire world. Roman Catholic 'church' high within that number, yet theyve done so little, and only shame CHRIST's name by not helping the oppressed, the poor as much as they could.
Most religions only want to add numbers to their own congregations and little ever hope to show the true Church of GOD is within ones Heart.
This is why there is so much evil in the world today.
Just as long ago when there was a need for CHRIST to come, because the people lost all understaning of what GOD wants, so again have we come full circle being misled by the religious leaders of this time.
Especially when they would allow someone named nicholaus to steal CHRIST's glory
Shame on them!

In today's world is difficult to celebrate Christ's Birthday, all people seems is more interested in shopping, eating out, dinners , parties, gifts etc... But what is the real value of Christmas ?
Christ was born for us and died on a cross to give us salvation !!! One has to attend the midnight mass to enter in the spirituality of Christmas !!!

yes it is true that Christ is not in Christmas, but the reality is that Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus at all. it is a pagan holiday. Constantine added Jesus to the mix in order to unify paganism and Christianity. It is actually not Christian at all. just a ritual as you said.

a million) i think of that nativity scenes are ok in public locations. 2) they at the instant are not something to do with Separation of Church and State. 3) people who oppose such issues be attentive to little with reference to the Inquisitions and the dark a protracted time, and the Anglican Church, or chosen to ignore with reference to the excuses that our forefathers interior the rustic had for bringing it up. 4) There is purely not a Christmas as all of us be attentive to it in heaven. 5) Christmas is yet another portion of the confusion that the international has to recover from, being a unfavorable witness to the international. 6) virtually each and every thing that Constantine did with regards to Saturnalia and the professional state church replaced right into a curse on the international. 7) once I see my kinfolk at Christmastime, maximum of that are interior the lifeless of night, they're lifeless spiritually, yet word the ritual of Christmas joyfully. there is not any love of God in them. Christmas is a form of issues that cause them to 'pretend' being religious. So each and every of the Christian 'hype' of conserving Christ in Christmas is yet another form of confusion perpetrated initially by using the devil; even the decide on are fooled. different than that, this is exciting! / : this is a stupid factor that devil has puzzled many into. The flesh is vulnerable. i would be chuffed whilst i'm not undertaking to Christmas in that i'm surrounded by using this is idolatry, and that i'm inundated by using this is wastefulness. (Christmas trees for $194.00, giving to eachother somewhat of to Jesus; being His meant birthday, and this is not). My spirit is so keen to get rid of it. My flesh does what it does, and that i hate my flesh for it. and that i'm chuffed of it! ( ;

Sorry, but God loves for His people to celebrate special occasions, and the incarnation of His Son into this world is a very good reason to celebrate. Have you ever noted all of the feasts and celebrations in the Old Testament? It is up to you to celebrate Jesus in your life regardless of what the rest of the world is doing. When you stand before God on judgement day He isn't going to take a poll to find out if the majority did or didn't do something. He's going to ask YOU what YOU did to celebrate His Son.

Jesus most certainly will have a future with or without Christmas.
It is OK to acknowledge the child, however salvation does not come from the child, it comes from what that child was appointed. Jesus Christ, Our Lord, Our Savior is who I seek for salvation. Only through Him may we once again walk the righteous path with Our Father.
