christmas was originally to celebrate the winter solstice, the shortest hours of daylight in a year and the point at which daylight hours will start to increase. Does this mean that christians actually worship a sun god?

We all instantly believe everything we read in books. In a thousand years, half the things we know as "facts" will be proven false. There are probably a thousand more elements in the universe than we know about, a million more animal species. I bet in a thousand years many of the ideas we believe in now will seem ridiculous!

So what if one day your chillin and God comes down to some big city in America, like New York or Chicago. And hes like Im real believe me and does cool tricks so everyone thinks hes real. But then he goes away. So people write about it, talk about it on the news, make video games about it, etc.
But then 2000 years later do you think there will be people that will say, that never really happened, we cant trust those writings, where is the real evidence? etc

Muslims claim that Islam preaches justice, equality, freedom and other principles that can be easily found in the Western world.

While in the countries that call themselves Islamic you can find nothing but oppression, injustice and widespread corruption of the elite and governments.

Either Islam is not that kind of good religion and Muslims are lying or Muslims have failed their religion.

Who can help me, because I am very confused.

Why do so many people waste so much time and energy trying to disprove and attack it!? I mean i have never EVER seen anyone attack Buddhism or Paganism or any other religion attack them the same way Christianity is. Obviously theres a problem. Try and argue Intelligent Design with an Evolutionist and He/She will for sure be two seconds away from murdering you. In the past I have argued the subject and I literally almost got choked to death. Christianity is a very disruptive force to those who don't believe. Why are people so HOSTILE to the written Word of Almighty God!? Why are people so willing to beleive a lie rather than the truth?!................... Now I'm gonna just sit back and watch the fiery darts come at me. :)

I was watching a program about the problems related to evacuating the New Orleans population before Katrina hit. It showed that Jehvah's Witnesses, instead of relying of the city or state, brought together a fleet of trucks, painted JW on the side, and spread out in the city to make sure every member was taken to Texas before the storm hit. They could only take the necessities. They didn't say if any other religion did the same, but if the JWs did, you would think all of them would have done it.

Why dont all school have the proper saftey drills?

ALLUAH AKBAR SCHOOL CHILD SAFTEY DRILL

"Ok kids, when you hear a Muslim praising its Allah, hit the ground quickly, like so. We call this the Alluah Akbar drill and it helps you respond quickly when a Muslim is about to do murder out of his wacky ignorant religious sensiblities. It praises Allah for the murder it will do for Allah. If you hear the praise quickly enough, maybe you wont be murdered for allah!"

I'm looking for something with an easygoing kinda feel. I don't want one of those silly archaic religions that say "thou shalt not" and so on. My old religion said that I'm going to Hell, and I'd rather not have to deal with such a lousy eternity. Even Heaven sounds a little stuck-up and prissy for my tastes (for a religion that hates gays, Heaven sounds kinda, REALLY gay). So, I'm in the market for a new one, maybe for a test drive. Where do you think I should look?

does anyone know some true stories about forgiveness.
your own or other peoples.
I would appreciate references ( where I can find the stories if they are on the web)
basically stories where you forgave someone or someone forgave you and how you felt about it

With all these many, many religions in the world. All telling us how to live. What to think. People spending much time studying their faith. Going to churches etc.
BUT they all point to the same thing, God.
Why not just be true to our selfs, and be good people, our natural selfs. The way we where born to be.... Everyhing we need we have inside us and the power of pray. We know what is, good and bad, without religion...
So why do we need religion??

It seems we live in a world where people try to influence others continually, whether for products to buy, ways to make money, healthy eating or medicines, votes, to smoke/drink or not to, on and on...and also in ways of faith. One person believes one way, and shares what they have received..or expresses their worship. I love the fact that in America we are encouraged to enjoy our freedom of religion...and the freedom of speech to share the joy we have gotten. I just don't understand why those who do not have faith in a creator, cannot allow others to enjoy the expression of this, whether in a public park or store or school or office. It seems that we are being taught that the "absence" of an awareness of God is better than faith in God. Why do these people who lack faith in a higher power desire the power to stop people of faith from expressing their beliefs? Maybe that's it, a power trip....since they can't believe, they want others to be just as lonely as they are?

"woman who claimed God ordered her to make a human sacrifice chose to kill her three children instead of herself, making her guilty of murder, a prosecutor said Wednesday during closing arguments at the woman's trial.
Prosecutor Linda Allen asked jurors to use their heads, not hearts, to determine Lashuan Harris' fate. The mentally ill Oakland woman threw her children into San Francisco Bay last year but has pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder by reason of insanity.Defense attorney Teresa Caffese said Harris believed completely that she was sending her children -- 6-year-old Trayshun Harris, 2-year-old Taronta Greeley, Jr., and 16-month-old Joshoa Greeley -- to heaven when she threw them over a railing and into the bay's cold waters.
If Harris believed her delusions were real, Caffese argued, she is innocent of murder....."
