BUT they all point to the same thing, God.
Why not just be true to our selfs, and be good people, our natural selfs. The way we where born to be.... Everyhing we need we have inside us and the power of pray. We know what is, good and bad, without religion...

You make a very serious and simple mistake. The many religions do not point to God, in fact they turn people away from God. Religion is a substitute for God.

In one particular you are right, We do not need religion. We need a relationship with God through faith which is only given by God. God onl;y accepts what He has provided for, nothing else. Do not insult God by offering Him that which He cannot accept and which offends against Him.

He does promise to the heart that fully seeks Him He will reveal Himself. Although those who have found Him could point you to Him you will still have to find Him for yourself.

It is for you to seek Him.

Who needs educationalists to indoctrinate the rest of us with their beliefs and values? Faith in tomorrow is a religion.
Boy, you need to work on this word 'religion' Your understanding of it suggests that the universal human experience of consciousness about time and eternity is somehow not a religious experience.
In this context, every mortal ever born, has a perculiar religion of one sort or another. Some express it as atheism, others as monotheism, theism, deism, pantheism etc yawn yawn.
The problem with dissension leading to strife and war is that we cannot agree on definitions. One group then tries to impose on other groups its collective identity with things that reinforce their definitions, people takes sides and heypresto it's called religious wars. A nifty way of passing the buck onto God.
Got news for you. Everyone is at war. Mostly within themselves with a mind that is split between good and evil.
Mr Blair epitomises a man with a severe case of bipolar disorder. Professing faith in God but overseeing the slaughter of thousands of inncoent men, women and children in a distant land. The slaughter is a SECULAR cull, nothing to do with God. However, the wringing of hands and feeling 'uncomfortable' is everything to do with God who is the Holy Spirit that convicts us of wrong doing. Blair's mind is split. His gnashing of teeth will be heard across the heavens.
You're right. We don't need religion. But we need the sanity of knowing that God will judge every word spoken, and every act, at the end of time.
Plea with you to come to Christ

If people and governments were responsible for their actions and had a grasp on morality and ethics, lived by a code of conduct conducive to kindness, then humanity would not need religious guidance.
Religion ( and I mean all types) have a way of counterbalancing the other extremes found in the philosophy of Nietzsche, where his belief of the laws of the strongest survive whilst the weak only perish.
So if your one of those human beings who tread lightly upon this earth and that of other peoples feelings then I guess you wouldn't need any prompting from religion.
Religion is there for those individuals who need to be prompted to make moral and ethical decisions, not people who take on their responsibilities to their fellow human beings..

My dear, you are thinking in a mystic way, there is no harm to have your personal religion, but there is long experimentation process required. You may get wrong direction and waste lot of energy.
Better you little concentrate on which religion tells more about right path, and follow it.
One thing is clear that don't believe on more than one God, believe on hereafter and do always good deeds, than it is guarantied in Holy Quran even you are Muslim, Christian,Jew, or Sabi ( all these believing on one god), you will have no fear and nar shall you grief. ( chapter Albaqara & Alma'eda )

People tend to feel that they need to beleive in something. Have a hope for something. Does it really matter? No one really knows. It may not be a bad idea just to play it safe. Reminds me of the Chris Rock speech in the movie "Dogma"

God’s "only real problem with mankind" is not idolatry or even unbelief, but the bad stuff "that gets carried out in his name — wars, bigotry, televangelism. The big one, though, is the factioning of all the religions. Mankind got it all wrong by taking a good idea and building a belief structure out of it." That’s right, God prefers "ideas" to "beliefs," because ideas are easier to change.

Some people need it as an explanation or excuse for living as they do. Do humans believe that one needs an excuse for moral values and actions? Man is the only creature that seems to recognize the temporal aspect of life, and yet the only species that actively pursues his own demise through suicide or mutual destruction. An afterlife has never been proved nor disproved. Personally I don't believe in one god nor one religion. That's a matter of belief or speculation on my part. It is not proof of existence nor absence of a higher power. I try to be optimistic and take that leap of faith. It makes it easier here on earth (for me).

most people are forced into a certain religion from birth, brought up to think that they need to follow their particular religion to get into heaven.

because of what they are told they become afraid of denying their religion out of fear.

however with so many religions, how can there be one set way of getting into heaven? nothing makes one religions way any better than anothers yet people will kill eachother over it still.

if you look at things properly you can easily see that there must be no one correct way and therefore as you said, we do not actually need religion as they are all wrong - there is no one set of rules to follow that guarantee entry to heaven.

We don't need religion but we do need to accept and follow Jesus, who paid the debt for our sins Himself out of His great love for us. I have been walking with Him for 30 years and have spent many of those years without a church or religion. I have a church now just because we all need fellowship and it's much better singing and praising him with other people and instruments. But you are right. Religions are made by man and they each have their own error. Do what you feel is right.

To t3h1 - You can be saved and follow Jesus without having a religion. I wasn't saved in a church. I looked for one for years and wanted to join afew but they had scandals happening in them at the time which prevented me from joining them. God knows my heart that I love Him in a church or out of a church. God bless.

You need a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. That is not the same as religion. If you want to really know the difference confess any know sin to God. Tell Jesus you accept what He did on the cross,His suffering and death to pay for your sins. ASK him to forgive you for your sins. Give Him your life one day at a time by serving Him one day at a time the best you know how. He'll make His presence real to you if you are sincere.Attend a Bible church, read His word, thank Him daily for what He has done for you.

We need religion for the next life ie when we die. You may not see it now, but don't you ever think that there's more to life then this one? Religion doesn't say you can't be good people and be yourself, so why not do that AND believe in God.
