I don't understand why you think that being vegetarian is unhealthy. It's scientific fact the vegans live longer than meat-eaters.

http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full/70/3/516S

>From the study:

"We combined data from 5 prospective studies to compare the death rates
from common diseases of vegetarians with those of nonvegetarians with
similar lifestyles. A summary of these results was reported previously;
we report here more details of the findings. Data for 76172 men and
women were available. Vegetarians were those who did not eat any meat
or fish (n = 27808). Death rate ratios at ages 16-89 y were
calculated by Poisson regression and all results were adjusted for age,
sex, and smoking status. A random-effects model was used to calculate
pooled estimates of effect for all studies combined. There were 8330
deaths after a mean of 10.6 y of follow-up. Mortality from ischemic
heart disease was 24% lower in vegetarians than in nonvegetarians
(death rate ratio: 0.76; 95% CI: 0.62, 0.94; P < 0.01). The lower
mortality from ischemic heart disease among vegetarians was greater at
younger ages and was restricted to those who had followed their current
diet for >5 y. Further categorization of diets showed that, in
comparison with regular meat eaters, mortality from ischemic heart
disease was 20% lower in occasional meat eaters, 34% lower in people
who ate fish but not meat, 34% lower in lactoovovegetarians, and 26%
lower in vegans. There were no significant differences between
vegetarians and nonvegetarians in mortality from cerebrovascular
disease, stomach cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer,
prostate cancer, or all other causes combined.." [end of quoted
passage]

So this study suggests that vegetarianism is much better for ones
heart, assuming the study had a sound design.

BTW, I'm not a vegan, because I can't get full on just vegetables, but I do believe it's healthier. Many studies have shown this.

OK what is your deal? I am a Hindu and eating vegetables is way more healthier than McDonald's or Burger King.

FYI = Vegetarians = veggies and dairy products
Vegan = completely veggies with no animal product.

maybe you should get yourself a science book as well as a social studies book...
why do you hate hindus so much...indifference is the opposite of love....hate which you preject only shows your concern otherwise you wouldn't dedicate your time asking a million incorrect and filthy derogatory questions about them.

milk is nonveg but its not the same as eating an animal that was once alive..an animal you took life away from and ate its flesh while you can survive without eating it...how much closer that that bring you to god....and not all hindus as vegetrians.....surely lack of education is a curse and you are the finest example
before you start learning from me i suggest you learn for yourself

and oh yeah at this moment i say another prayer for you....

Milk isn't taboo for a vegitarian diet. Only Veagan. Veaganism didn't start until the 60's. The reason they don't use dairy products is becuase a cows milk is stolen from the calves, who are then slaughtered and made into veil.

You should really learn more about something before you judge it.

Some rituals are done based on reason based & some are not. This belongs to second category. My personal opinion - following this particular ritual is of no sense - Either we should be purely veg r completely non-veg.

Seventh-day Adventist Christians do the same and have the highest longevity and best health scores of any Western population group. Maybe science can figure it out.
