What is more frightening, the fact that there isn't an after-life or the fact that we don't have a purpose for living?

Why are we so desperate in believing in religion? Are we terrified? Is God our limit? Is there more, or is there nothing?

If you believe in heaven or hell, the question is: why create both this life and the next? It doesn't seem very logical in God's part.

i mean seriously, sin had not been committed before them. if they had not sinned, every single one of us would be perfect in every way. we wouldn't have to go through life, we would never experience pain or heartbreak, illness or any of that. everything would be perfect. we would start life in heaven instead of trying to get there while in the process of going through life first, but then again there's a reason for everything right? but still i would rather have sin not exist in the first place. any thoughts?

I deeply enjoy the ceremonial portions of the Catholic Mass, and alot of the teachings. I cannot, however, get over the prejudice (in example towards gays. No, I'm not gay.). I feel God makes people a certain way and it is our job to love that person while on Earth, and the Lord will judge him when his time comes. I need to find a religion/church that meshes with my beliefs. I feel so lost not going to church any more. Can anybody give me a recommendation? Thank you!

Just thinking whether anyone who is highly religious are equally spiritual. They are the same or different things and concepts.

It was added to the pledge in the 1950s. If you watch the movie "The Bells of Saint Marys", which is on a lot in the Christmas season, you can even see Bing Crosby as a priest leading school children in the original pledge.

So why all the fuss because people want to take it back OUT of the pledge? It was only shoved in there during the Red Scare.

One of my holy rolling pals has been playing "Heresy" by nin a lot lately. It's a great song, don't get me wrong. But, I mean, isn't it a sin to enjoy stuff like that that shouts out "GOD IS DEAD!"?

I'm serious and looking for someone that really knows the Muslim faith to answer this question...

Someone recently told me that it is a Muslim man's extreme blessing if he converts a Christian Woman. The it is commanded of him and that when he passes that he will be set up in a kingdom and the women he converted will be his servants. Is this true?

I am a new christian, and I have had hardship after hardship in my life. I am a really good person, so why do I struggle so much. Is God punishing me for some reason, Does he do that?? I don't know much about him yet. I am struggling financially right now, as we own our own business, and haven't been able to pay any bills this month. And then on top of that, the transmission is messup up in the work truck. Right when I feel like I can't take one more bit of stress, another catastrophe happens...why does God let this happen?? I do not understand. I am a very nice, honest, caring person and I would do anything to help another person out if I could. So why do thes bad things happen to me all the time, if God loves me so much?

I find it funny how some of you don't, but you have never, or never will, have come close to suffering from clinical depression. No one can say they have suffered from true diagnosed clinical depression and not thought about killing themselves. These are not thoughts of the person's own, these are thoughts drove into them through an illness that claims many lives every year.

Until you have felt your body eating itself while you are still alive, I think you should back off and show a little compassion, as I saw a girl come in here earlier who was very sick, and all you could do was judge her and push her closer to the edge, some of you people make me sick....
