This is the Lord's Supper. Jesus had his last meal with his disciples on the night he was betrayed.

1 corinthians11:23-26
For i received from the Lord what i also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, " This is my body, which is for you: do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after supper he took the cup ( wine), saying, " This cup is the new covenant in my blood, do this, whenever you drink it in remembrance of me." FOR WHENEVER YOU EAT THIS BREAD AND DRINK THIS CUP, YOU PROCLAIM THE LORD'S DEATH UNTIL HE COMES.

It is a symbolic act. and the church cant possibly supply wine to so many ppl, and plus, there might hv been children present. So, usually, ribena is used.

1 Corinthians 11:25 "In the same way he also took the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink, in memory of me."

It's meant as a symbol of His shed holy blood and body. So I wouldn't say they lied.

they are not lying, my dear.
Over in my church and other churches that i go to,
we drink this red-colored drink whose purpose is to remind us of the holy and precious pure blood that Jesus our Savior had shed/ bled for us. Do you understand?

It is a symbolism of respect and appreciation.

Honestly, you do not expect them to chop up large quantities of animals, drain out their blood and offer it for you guys to drink, isn't it?

Because Jesus's real holy blood was like 180 proof moonshine, they had to dumb it down some for those with weak organs.
