I don't think it's a good idea for Christians to listen to lyrics like that. As Christians it's our jobs to be representatives of God. We're also not suppose to do things that could cause others to stumble.
If the world can't tell Christians from the world, they won't feel there's anything to gain by being Christians.
I personally just listen to contemporary Christian music, but think secular music is fine as long as it's not vulgar or dishonors God.

Lucifer was the angel of music when he was in heaven. He is the ultimate 'influence', after all he did convince 1/3 of heavens angels that God was wrong about the creation of humans and that they should follow him and rebel against God!
So, I'm inclined to believe that what goes in the ear can also go in the spirit and that can passively lead one astray.

I think it is sinful to listen to that song and music like it. Phil. 4:8 says Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Also, like someone said in a previous post, we are to do all things to the glory of God. But I'm not judging you; in fact, secular music is something I am struggling to break free of.

Some people enjoy music for the beats, and some people enjoy music for the messege it sends. Personally, I don't really pay attention to lyrics. I feel like the beat, melody, harmony, quality and tone of the singer et cetera, is what makes me like the song. You don't think that "god is dead," right? You know where you stand! Who cares? If you like it, you like it!

I can't comment on Heresy as I've never heard it. But do you think that if someone listens to something irrevent towards God is a Christian? Deep down in his heart he probably isn't. Good for him. He he... :-D

No one is perfect everyone is working on changes; one way or another. Sound like God hasn't delivered him from certain type of music as of yet. God is merciful and patience with us. Therefore God wont strip us of everything all at once he's aware it took years to learn habits so he'll help us through it. Like that song say "God is not through with me yet". To answer your question I believe it to be a sin to listen to music that don't bring peace and joy ex-specially once God has open yours eyes to know him. To know him is to want to be like him. At least that's my destiny.

It's a great song, and I'm sure God appreciates it when people use the free will he gave them.
Do yourself a favor and find a faith based on love (instead of fear and guilt) and be happy.

It sounds pretty bad to me. My way of seeing it is, why would you want to listen to anything that would not allow you to enjoy the companionship of the Holy Ghost? He won't come in if you're listening to something untrue or inappropriate.

If its not something you would listen to with the Savior, or watch with the Savior, or a place you would take the Savior to. Then you probably shouldnt.
That is the best way to judge anything....... I always do anyway.
