allah is the moon god of the ancient desert people.
Mo upgraded him/it.

The pagan Arabs worshiped the Moon-god Allah by praying toward Mecca several times a day; making a pilgrimage to Mecca; running around the temple of the Moon-god called the Kabah; kissing the black stone; killing an animal in sacrifice to the Moon-god; throwing stones at the devil; fasting for the month which begins and ends with the crescent moon; giving alms to the poor, etc.

The Muslim's claim that Allah is the God of the Bible and that Islam arose from the religion of the prophets and apostles is refuted by solid, overwhelming archeological evidence. Islam is nothing more than a revival of the ancient Moon-god cult. It has taken the symbols, the rites, the ceremonies, and even the name of its god from the ancient pagan religion of the Moon-god. As such, it is sheer idolatry and must be rejected by all those who follow the Torah and Gospel. moongod.htm

There is no connection between the moon and Allah. Allah created the moon, but we dont worship it. The moon is used as a sort of calendar for the whole 30 days that Muslims are supposed to fast during Ramadan. It was like a clock that tells us when to start and when to end the fast. This tradition first started by the Prophet Muhammed SAW, and so anyone who follows the Sunnah, will definitly use the moon as a reference to when to begin Ramadan or end it.

The Islamic calendar is based on the lunar cycle. There are 12 months in the Islamic year. The 9th Month of that year is Ramadan. The birth of the moon is an indication for the beginning of the month. Islamic days begin at Sunset (or moonrise).

Prayer and fasting is based on the Sun's daily cycle. All planets and stars in existence were created by, and belong to God. He has ordained on Muslims to follow these time markers to perform the rituals of their religion, and to increase in the belief of their Mighty Creator, and Sustainer of life.

There is no connection between the moon and Allah.

Muslims look at the moon for ramadan, because the moon indicates the beginning of the month.

The Islamic calendar counts the beginning and the end of the month by the full moon.

That's all that there is to it.

Peace.

Dear friend, you got some good answers stating why Muslims use the moon. It's simple, Islamic year counting is based on lunar cycle. It sounds odd to non-Muslims because all of them, also Muslims, mainly use solar calendar, not lunar. As the Islamic calendar system contradicts the conventional solar calendar system, some people mistakenly think Muslims must have something to do with the moon. Also, someone above stated why moon sign is used on every mosque. Well, I have seen many mosques without any signs of crescent moon. Even the local mosque I go here in NY, there is no moon sign. People generalize ideas based on their extremely limited knowledge.

Anyway, here are some links which talk about the relation of Islam with the moon:

The Lunar Calendar is the basis for the Islamic Calendar,

[021:033] And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating.

[041:037] And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Prostrate yourselves not to the sun nor to the moon, but prostrate yourselves to Allâh Who created them, if you (really) worship Him.

[029:061] And if you were to ask them: "Who has created the heavens and the earth and subjected the sun and the moon?" they will surely reply: "Allâh." How then are they deviating (as polytheists and disbelievers)?

Please remember Allah simply means God in Arabic, just like Dios means God in spanish, if you say I pray to Dios, that doesn't mean you pray to something separate. And I hope finally you will see that God forbids us to pray to the moon, so please understand this, because I know you are a human, and not an imbecile (or an I wrong)?

the clarification why Muslims seem to the moon for Ramadan is via the fact the Muslim calendar is lunar calendar, meaning that the calendar relies on the cycle of the moon. no longer in basic terms like the Gregorian calendar, it relatively is now broadly usual through fact the commonplace calendar, relies on the innovations of the action of the Earth to the solar. on your information, Ramadan is basically between the month interior the Muslim's calendar. The Kaaba isn't the meteorites from outer area. it quite is basically some rocks. despite if it got here from out of this international or no longer isn't substantial. The Kaaba replaced into relatively geared up via the prophet Abraham and his son, Ishmael. (peace be upon them). The Kaaba did no longer appear as if what it quite is appear as if at present. on the time of Abraham (peace be upon him), he and his son basically putting some vast rocks. in a protracted time, whilst the region prospered, people slowly renovated till it grew to grow to be as what we observed at present. The God ordered him and his family members and his descendants to center their prayer to the Kaaba. They weren't worship the Kaaba, yet they have been basically typical their prayer to the Kaaba. His descendants in a protracted time turn to be the persons of Mecca. After thousand of years, people deserted his teachings. somewhat of worshipping God, they took statues and idol as their gods. Then, the God sent the prophet Muhammad to renew the lost coaching of prophet Abraham (peace be upon them). So, it replaced into no longer the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who stole from the Arabs, in spite of the shown fact that it have been the Arabs who stole the coaching of Abraham (peace be upon him) and included into their faith of paganism.

They ask you about the new moons. Say: These are signs to mark fixed periods of time for mankind and for the pilgrimage (Qur'an 2:189).

Almost all middle east people used the Lunar Calendar. The Easter celebration is timed to the moon too. All the Hebrew holidays are calculated by the Hebrew Lunar calendar. This Idea that you keep spouting about God being a Moon God is dumb and makes you look foolish.
