Christians, it is needless to say, utterly detest each other. They slander each other constantly with the vilest forms of abuse and cannot come to any sort of agreement in their teaching. Each sect brands its own, fills the head of its own with deceitful nonsense, and makes perfect little pigs of those it wins over to its side."

All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian, or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit.
Thomas Paine

There are many prophetic statements told by prophet Muhammed that order Muslims to KILL anyone who leaves Islam.

In reality, most (if not all) Muslim scholars agree that the only punishment for anyone who leaves Islam (and refuses to re-embrace it within three days) is to be KILLED.

Is there any reason for that horrible punishment?

God is in the heavens.
Devil is in hell
Both affect life
Judgement is coming

If a country has a dictator, he usually rules by fear. yes the crime rates are low, life has the "illusion" of being perfect. People are given rules to live by, most just common sense, but how they will be punished if they don't follow them or "worship" the dictator.

It's a choice, worship and vote for the dictator and he will give you a better life than if you choose to vote against him.

Anyone see any similarity here?

That's why I am atheist. I will not be forced into worshiping a bully and dictator. Not that I beleive he exists, but IF I am wrong I will stand by my choice NOT to have beleived in god or worshiped him. I live my life without harming anyone and the so called "sins" that I was apparently born with I fail to see how a child has any sin at all??? I have learned by my mistakes and lived my life continually improving myself and others lives. If that's not good enough then TOUGH!!! To me being damned for eternity is far to severe a punishment for living a good life.

From what i've seen here, I highly doubt it. We pagans try to merely talk about our faith with one another and sometimes compare ourselves with christianity, because we hold many similar ties. and the first thing the christians do...
BLASPHEMY! YOU FALSE GOD WORSHPERS!

Since Pagan emperor Julian we have strived to live peacefully alongside all religions. Tolerance is the one key value of paganism. All we want is to live ad talk "respectively" with other people and have down to earth talks based on common history, NOT their bible. thats like talking to a jew useing the Q'uaran...stop it
You have to learn how to communicate on our level, and we do the same for you.

So dont say we wordship false gods. Thats very disrespectful. Your religion may say we are woprshiping false gods, but that ccording to your point of view, but bite your tounge, have courtesy and manners to your fellow man and respect his beliefs, weve been here longer than your religion, we atleast deserve respect.

I was previously very involved with a Baptist church but now attend one that is "Charismatic". For a while I hard a hard time reconciling the difference in beliefs (but at the same time was intrigued). However, I have since searched the scriptures and discovered that the teachings all seem to ring true. I have prayed for the Baptism but have yet to notice anything different. For instance, I have yet to recieve my spiritual language (It's been several months). Could it be that I didn't receive the Baptism or am I just being impatient? It seems that if I have actually been "touched" by the Spirit of God that I would have noticed.

Before you say, that Muhammad was obviously fake, please remember that the jews say that Jesus was also obviously fake

'Truly, you (O Muhammad SAW) are one of the Messengers,
On a Straight Path (i.e. on Allah's religion of Islamic Monotheism).
(This is) a Revelation sent down by the AllMighty, the Most Merciful,
In order that you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are heedless.' (Qur'an 36:3-6)

You either:

1) First though you would continue to follow it, even if your parents stopped telling you to.

or

2) First thought you would stop following it, even if your parents kept telling you to.

And, how old were you when it came true?

It seems like muslims are always angry at somebody, and when there is not enough hate to go around to the outsiders they turn on each other and kill each other (Sunni/Shiite). This is evident not only in Iraq but Gaza(although Gaza is Fatah vs. Hamas rather than Sunni/Shiite), Pakistan and Indonesia.
Please tell me this- honestly.
Do you REALLY think that if we got rid of the nation of Israel and sent them all to Europe and got every single non-arab soldier out of the middle east area that things would suddenly be OK and there would be no more fighting in the Middle East? If you really think so you're quite a dreamer. I think all of these things are just excuses to do the only thing they know how to do.

The Mighty God of the Old Testament become a man and get flogged by his creation?

It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son [this refers to the slander of Christians against Allah, by saying that 'Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allah]. Glorified (and Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). When He decrees a thing, He only says to it, "Be!" and it is. (Qur'an 19:35)
Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allah is the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary)." But the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)] said: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers) there are no helpers. (Qur'an 5:72)

No offense to the atheists....you can see from my other posts that I am open to whatever you believe, as I am a voodoist, and have beliefs that arent' exactly mainstram...nor do I like being labeled.

However, if someone is an atheist, and admits that atheism is not a religion....why are atheists even in the Religion section of Yahoo Answers? It doesn't make sense. If it isn't a religion, why is it in this category?
