I see a lot of Christians wearing gold ones, why is that?

Gold is prettier. It isn't about materials, but about an event that changed the world.

Jesus' was wood, of course...
Christians have made the cross a symbol of their faith...I prefer an empty cross, rather than a "crucifix", because I am celebrating a living Savior...I am not looking for Him among the dead.
Did you know that there is a story in The Gospel of Peter that tells that when Jesus came from the tomb He was followed by a cross that shone like gold? A voice coming from the cross asked Him if He had preached to those that slept, and He said that He had.

The crucifix you see being worn is simply a symbol and is made from a variety of things, gold, silver, platinum, wood, ceramic, etc. Gold is popular as it is a durable and valuable metal, but there is no religious significance to the material used to produce the cross.

And Jesus' cross was, of course, wood. And it is believe he actually only carried the crossbeam to the cross, not the entire thing. The cross is what he carried a crucifice is a cross with the figure of jesus on it, and is usually not worn, what is worn is a cross, please get your terminalogy straight before asking silly questions.

His cross was made of wood, people wear one's of gold because what they are wearing is a representations of what it was. Think about when people make a statue replica of something or somebody, they rarely use the same material that the original was made of, but it still means the same thing.

His cross was wood. The gold crucifix is just a symbol as well as a piece of jewelry.....but you already knew that.

The crucifix (instrument of torture) was invented by the Romans around the time of King David, I think.
Jesus was born in the 750th year, from the foundation of Rome. (You see, time was still going forwards then.)
So, in answer, no, Jesus would not have worn a symbol of the Roman instrument of torture, anymore than people would wear a Guillotine later on.

In my opinion Jesus wouldn't wear a crucifix at all, it was not the message he is reported to have been teaching. That little affection came from Paul and those who followed him.
