"Born in the east and clothed in Oriental form and imagery, the bible walks the ways of all the world with familiar feet and enters land after land to find its own everywhere. It has learned to speak in hundreds of language to the heart of man. Children listen to its stories with wonder and delight, and wisemen ponder them as parables of life. The wicked and the proud tremble at its warnings, but to the wounded and the penitent it has a mother's voice. It has woven itself into our dearest dreams; So that Love,Friendship,Sympathy,Devotion,Memory,Hope, put on the beautiful garments of its treasured speech. No man is poor or desolate who has this treasure for his own. When the landscape darkens, and the trembling pilgrim comes to the valley of the Shadow,he is not afraid to enter; he takes the rod and staff of Scripture in hand;he says to friend and comrade, "Goodbye. We shall meet again" So,confronted by that support,he goes toward the lonely pass, as one walking through darkness, into light."

having been raised in chuch all my life, we where taught that you must be literally baptised in the name of Jesus Christ. and that all other forms of baptizm is not recognized by God. For instance I know that the baptist church baptizes in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. We have been taught that with out the proper baptism the Holy spirit can not abide in you. I am bothered by this because i know many people who live very spiritual and holy lives who where baptised under this method. I don't mean to seem juvenile in my question, it's just when your raised to believe something it becomes a part of you that you don't necessarily want to believe but almost by repetitive force, forced to believe. It's kind of like you call a person ugly all his/her life they will begin to believe they are just that? So just remember these are things that have been taught for years and embedded, I want to grow beyond this stage and open my mind and my heart to and for the truth. Thanks.

I don't recall the churches of my youth addressing this question; however, I was contemplating this question the other day.

If WE whom are 'saved' believe that Christ is the son of God and only by believing in him as the son of god will we be guaranteed a place in heaven after the second coming. Right?

My question is; those hundreds of millions whom lived prior to the birth of Christ, are they automatically rejected from god's embrace and will therefore be consigned to an eternity in hell?

Serious question. I'm not a Christian, but there are a couple of holiday films I really love, and I think most people have a favorite or two.

This is a question for everybody, whatever your religion or lack of: What are your favorite Christmas-themed movies, and why?

Thanks for answering.

Any christian know the verse where it says there is only one mediator to heaven and it is Christ? Y do catholics still involve praying to other beings when it is ONLY Christ who will do it for you. And to be honest you can ask Christ up front you don't have to go to the saints the bishops the Virgin Mary the priest the deacons and then Jesus. Jesus alone saved you Jesus alone will help you.

notice how everyone who stated that they let their children enjoy their childhood get so many thumbs down.

is that what christianity teaches? not to let your child have an imagination or any kind of childhood? force them to behave like adults when they are children? why are so many so against letting children be children?

just an fyi, do you know how much more psychological harm you do by not letting your children be children?

We decided not to do Santa with our kids and have never been sorry for it. But it is surprising to us that so many other Christian families practice the Santa myth. I'm totally confused why people would lie to their kids about it.

Evil appears to have been 'explained away and relegated' under the terms of such things as Mental Illness, Terrorism, Drugs, Bad childhood/ upbringing, Politics, etc, etc.

Do you agree and what does this say about us? Have people stopped believing in Evil per se?

I've been told catholics pray the rosary to go to heaven. is this true? Do you believe your sarifice and good works get you to heaven? Think about this, you are God you told people how to act and they disobey not only that they curse you not only that they try to prove you wrong. They laugh at you, but you forgive them and give your ONLY son as a SACRIFICE for all the wrong these people have done. When you face the Lord do you believe your sacrifice matches God's? No amount of prayer will get you to heaven. Ephesians 2 8:9 It is by GRACE of God you are saved, THROUGH FAITH. Not by your good deeds so that no man may boast.

What is your answer catholics?
