I have always wanted to talk to someone about this. My father passed away when I was six and amongst everything that he left myself and my brother there were the complete leather bound set of Dennis Wheatly books. I am now 23 and tbh I have never even sat and tried to read one! I suppose you would recommend a read then? Do you know if these books are worth keeping? I was going to donate them to charity but perhaps I should try an read them! XxXxX

Wheatley took Occult elements from a variety of sources. As to the significance of what he wrote; it depends on if you want a serious answer or not?

I liked the film of The Devil Rides Out but I confess I have not read the book. I think the film was interesting and well made, also it stars Christopher Lee one of the greatest actors in the world today.

He was heavily influenced by Crowley and the Hermetic order of the Golden Dawn.
And yes, lots of people believe. There is no notion or idea so stupid that it won't have it's adherents, and if you chuck in pseudo-scholarship and a smattering of dog-Latin, it becomes quite intoxicating to a certain mindset!

No, I don't believe in Wheatley's (fictional and imaginitve) occult.
Having said that, there certainly is a spiritual dimension and it certainly has its pitfalls.
Best advice - remember it was fiction!

A good read, but utter ********. There is no Devil - only in the mind! There is no "significance" to "understand", it is fiction, ie , invented, did not happen, will not happen, has never happened!
