Christian: rofl those stupid atheists! everyone knows humans are special and they were personally crafted by god!!

Me: In that case, are you saying the fact that CHIMPANZEES HAVE 98% OF THE SAME DNA doesn't apply?

I'm talking about those folks that believe in god's existance, but they don't trust that he saved them from the urge to brake the principles of life (like thou shalt not kill or something). Have you noticed that most people in jail claim to be christians?

I'm thinking he's all about 3 curly fries, one melt, and perhaps a soda that he'll change into wine

A question for the bible literalists among you.

According to Genesis 9, God "set His bow in the cloud as a token of the covenant between Him and the Earth" in the aftermath of the Flood.

Does that mean that before the flood, there were no rainbows? Does it mean God changed the laws of optics across the whole universe in order to create this wondrous object? And if so, would other devices that rely on reflection and/or refraction (lenses, mirrors etc) have worked back then?

Near as I can tell there is nothing scientific about it. no peer review, no double blind studies, there is no empirical data to induce, so there can be no deduction of any observable phenomena. Am I wrong here?

There is a story in the new testament about some apostles who were preaching in a town somewhere when they cast some spirits out of a girl who had been following them around for several days. The girl was a slave, and her slave owners got really mad at the apostles b/c they were making a lot of money off of her psychic abilities. After the demons were cast out, she lost her psychic abilities. So the slave owners had them kicked out of town (I think). Where is this story found?

OK, we all know that there are about a billion Christians and Atheists out here on yahoo answers,(how could we not know with all the posting!) but how many of us practitce alternative religions/belief systems? I think it will be surprising to see that more people than you think believe in non-mainstream religions. d
Don't be afraid...speak up and be heard.

I practice hoodoo (not a religion) and New Orleans Voodoo (a religion that includes a belief of God and the power of the saints and the dead ancestors). I have a small altar at home, a supply of herbs, oils, washes, colored candles, a horseshoe, Florida Water, and offerings to Marie Leveaux and my past relatives. My husband is Lutheran, but he understand my practice and encourages me to be myself.

What is your story?

And, please, no bad mouth comments from the Christian/Atheist power posters please.

How should you get baptized? Can you just get water sprinkled on you or should you go completely under?

I go to a Christian university and we are debating this on Thursday afternoon.
Some of you may recognize this as a repost, and I got some very good responses-- however it may not be enough.
My job is to proove that there is no heaven.
This is most difficult for me, because I believe in heaven...
What scientific or logical explination do you have that heaven doesn't exist?
Thanks so much for your help.
