No. I say you are exactly right. There's no science in intelligent design. So it can't be a scientific theory. Sorry ID believers - there's just no process of discovery in your belief.

There probably is peer review (among ID) but no double blind studies or empirical verification. Yet this is true of "real" sciences like theoretical physics.
That being said, I don't really think ID amounts to a theory because it seems to be mostly a collection of arguments about "irreduceable complexity" which is not enough. Then again, I don't keep up with ID literature.

Not a scientific theory. Anything that requires interference from a supernatural being is, by definition, outside the study of nature (science).
You can argue about ID, but there's nothing to prove. Any evidence, or lack of evidence, can be explained by interference from the supernatural entity. Fossils, measurements, bones – anything might have been placed there last week by God to trick us into thinking the world is actually older than seven days. If not – how can you disprove it? If there is a God, He doesn't play by our rules.

It is a theory, but not a scientific one. It is just Creationism under a different name. The fact that its based on faith and not the scientific method should be proof enough. Evolution just has too much evidence to have a competitor based on faith alone. In the future, there may be a scientific competitor that stands a chance, but right now there is not.

Totally. Unless there is a word below that even, since Intelligent design isn't even studied to come up with such a theory.

It lacks empirical data, it is unable to predict an observable outcome, and it is unable to be proven or disproven. Therefore, it cannot be science. No, you are not wrong.

It's a "theory" on par with "I have this theory that Pamela Anderson isn't going to remarry Kid Rock a forth time."

On the basis that the god squad would argue that evolution has no evidence or facts, they would probably say that ID definitely IS, just to show how stupid they are.

Now, just where do you suppose the idea of ID came from? It is not an idea from the creationist camp, I can promise you that. Why don't you research it? I will help you out. The scientist that came up with the idea?? His initials are A. E. E.
Check it out and report back to us.
