This question has been asked before, and I've answered it a dozen times. In the Old Testament, the Hebrew is YHWH, it means "I am" (ie., without a name). For example, Moses asked God what is name was and what he should tell Pharaoh it was. God replies, "Tell him, I am." God does not need a name.

The term "Allah" simply means "the [one] god", implying a single Almighty deity reminiscient of the Judeo-Christian "Yahweh" / "Jehovah". However, it is significant that "Allah" is clearly NOT a personal name, while the Hebrew Tetragrammaton clearly *IS* a personal name for Almighty God.
It's not exactly wrong to call the Almighty by the impersonal "God", just as it's not wrong to call one's offspring "Child". Faithful men of the Holy Scriptures used both "God" and a form of "Jehovah" when they referred to and addressed the Almighty. However, the term "Allah" seems intended specifically to reject Judeo-Christian spiritual heritage.
If we want a familiar and close relationship, it makes sense to use the personal name of someone we love. The Scriptures encourage us to use God's personal name.
The Hebrew name “Yahweh” (or “Yehowah”) does seem to accurately pronounce the divine name. Just as the Hebrew name “Yeshua” (or “Yehoshua”) is translated into “Jesus” in English, the Hebrew name “Yahweh” is translated into “Jehovah” in English.
The important thing is to use God’s personal name in whatever language you speak, rather than insisting upon the impersonal! The name “Yahweh” is certainly preferable to the non-name “God” or “Lord”, especially if you speak Hebrew. If you speak English, feel free to use the name "Jehovah".
(Psalms 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth
(John 17:26) [Jesus said] I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them

Incidentally, Moses, Einstein, Darwin, Joseph, Mohammed, and Hashem are human names. None of those names can rightly apply to the Almighty.

I don't know, but the one thing that no one ever discusses is the fact that in order for the word to disseminate and circulate over the globe it had to be translated. Looking at just the language, aside from the religious aspect of this question, there are many instances where there aren't words to compensate from one language to the next and vice verse.
I liken it to the game many of us played as children, which began with one person whispering to the person next to them...the whisper travels around a circle and back the person at the right of the source. The whisper/message is usually skewed and in no way resembles the original message.

we do not know the ineffable name of God it is pure mystery what God calls Himself in Heaven, when God spoke to Moses He used the exclamation `I` Am Who Am`, in other words who are you to know My Name, the name Yahweh is Hebrew for this exclaimation, Jesus taught us to call God Father, and this is as close as it gets to Gods Holy name.
