Why does everyone follow that stuff without knowing the other side of the story? We all know god's word, but what about satan's? Maybe god is simply more powerful so he was able to silence what satan wanted to say, but not any more good, and if you follow someone because of the power and not because of their morals doesn't that make you a mentally weak person? Seriously, think about the bible. God has admitted in it to killing all the 1st born children in Egypt, flooding the earth, and sending tons of people to eternal suffering. That makes Hitler look like a novice at genocide, but just imagine what god hasn't admitted to. I mean this is one sick dude. I don't remember Satan ever commiting genocide of the human race, killing babies or sending people to suffer for eternity. Satan seemed to be in the right mind when he rebelled against god...He is a true hero! Willing to risk punishment by the more powerful by standing up for what is truly good..what is more heroic than that?

Really. Conservative christians say "In hell you will burn and suffer for eternity". I disagree with this, as I believe everyone will be saved, but that's not the point.

Anyway, if we do burn in hell, yet our bodies are buried under a tombstone and our souls are burning, and our bodies feel pain when touched by fire, how do our souls feel pain by the fire? Its the soul, not the body. So I think our eternal suffering would be eternal boredom.

Why is it that we always question what the Bible says, but we mostly always believe what the newspapers and magazines say? We do question the Bible alot.

Please, no flaming.

I have a cousin that is really into practicing reiki and meditation. Can a person spend to much time into this practice and forget about other important things in life. I was thinking of the effects of a cult on some people?

It's what Jesus would have done. If you don't think so then you are not a true Christian.

They're are plenty of historical manuscripts found around the world such as the dead sea scrolls. So why do people believe that Coloumbus discovered America in 1492, when none of us were here to witness it.

If so, what do you think will happen? Do you think it will make a difference in what people believe?

It seems to me that perhaps the man never existed.

Supposedly thousands of people followed him. People did alot of writing from the time and region he supposedly lived, but not about jesus. There are still many records and letters and historical accounts from the period, but strangely no mention of this jesus.

Also, much of the jesus story (including the crucifixion and resurrection) appears to come from older, yet very familiar religious traditions such as Chrishna, Horus, Orpheus, Bacchus, Osiris, Apollo, Hercules, Mithras, etc.

A likely answer is the whole jesus narrative is really just a metaphor for the sun's yearly passage through the zodiac

and the religion-slash-biography was crafted by leaders in 100 or 200 AD from pre-existing myths and philosophies from the area.

You can add anything constructive that you have,
or just flame away.

I mean I know that you are not worshiping the saint but you are praying to THEM as compared to God. Would this take away from the glory of God and thus go against the 10 comandments?

Somebody clear this up for me: People ask questions like: Aren't you mad at the Jews for killing Jesus?
But I thought Jesus died for our sins.
If they had not killed him, then how would he have died for your sins? I dont get it. Somebody explain.

In LA there is my best friend friend from 6th grade who we have, our entire lives, talked about how we will become rich and successful together. In the bay I could live with my parents in a 2 million dollar mansion rent free. In LA i would live in a tiny apartment but I be having fun and partying and finally working of some of our business ideas. I have to decide within a week or two. What should I do? This decision is consuming my entire existance.

I'm not in a hurry, nor in desperate need, but I've tried using christian matching sites on the internet and so on, and I can't seem to find the right girl. Attractive non-christian women show interest in me, but I never persue them because I know these relationships will not last since we don't believe the same thing.

I'm a historian, 20's, intellegent, good shape, the bible is my passion, and I'm looking for a woman who won't pull me away from the Lord, but bring me closer.

Any suggestions??? don't say internet dating.
Any christian couples out there with some good advice on how to meet other christians?

these days the word God can often be used as an umbrella term for lots of definitions! do you think perhaps we could find a better word/s to describe our varying beliefs, because "God" may bring negative connotations?
