The Gnostic Gospels are a collection of writings authored by many people in the first and second century.
Generally, Gnostic Christians claimed that salvation is not achieved through grace or works, but only through introspection. They claim that Jesus imparted some divine truth to his close followers, and that this truth can be learned only through self-exploration.
Historically, the Gnostic Gospels have been heavily suppressed by mainstream Christian churches, but several ancient copies have been recovered and restored, including the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Judas, and the Gospel of Mary Magdalene.

They were written by a religion called Gnosticism, a mystical religion with some relation to Christianity, but they were not Christians themselves. The group is extinct, though they survived up to the time of Islam (the Qur'an refers to them as Sabaens). Some neo-Gnostics now exists. The Gnostic Gospels themselves are usually referred to by scholars as the Nag Hammadi Library. They gospels were found in Egypt.

As told to me, Thomas is gnostic, Mary Magdalene also, Barnabas is also. Supposedly these are mostly dealing with the mystical aspect of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I have read all of the above including the Book of Enoch and am not in the least offended by any and I am unable to find the supposed contridictions which are so often subscribed to these gospels. I am not one to interpret so I can find no fault.

There are many writings that were from gnostics and others that are interesting to read. Check out "The Apocrypha" and "The Gnostics."

All of them were left out of the bible. There's a book out called the Gnostic Bible. Check it out! It includes many of the gospels conveniently left out of the bible.

They are all ficticious and that's why they were never included into the canon.
BTW, quit reading that duluded book called Da Vinci Code.
" Now the Spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, speaking lies in hypocrisy..."(1Tim.4:1)
"...But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." (II Tim. 3:12)
