Really. Conservative christians say "In hell you will burn and suffer for eternity". I disagree with this, as I believe everyone will be saved, but that's not the point.
Anyway, if we do burn in hell, yet our bodies are buried under a tombstone and our souls are burning, and our bodies feel pain when touched by fire, how do our souls feel pain by the fire? Its the soul, not the body. So I think our eternal suffering would be eternal boredom.

If you are atheist, again, as with all of my questions, pretend God exists.
If you are another religion, you don't need to answer the question.

The Soul is our spiritual body. Like the Angels they were created as a spirit beings. Believe or not these spritual bodies are not ordinary. As we know the are four stages of matter when heat is applied The solid will become liquid, more heat liquid will become gas, gas if applied more heat then gas will become plasma energy. What is soul or spirit made of? Living energy. Hell is far too hot we can't imagine for this is the place, THE ONLY PLACE where the spirit bodies can die or be burned. By the way this is the first and final death of the Demons and will be the second death for us humans. Eternal suffering is not scriptural and people, Christians misinterpret the Bible, you can find other verses that explain this very well. The Almighty Yahweh is full of Love and Mercy, He is not that Saddistic to see people suffer for eternity. As what He is the Beginning and the End. If there is a beginning there is always an end. Only Him control both. Please visit http://yaim.org/. Have a nice day.

Boy what a lot of hogwash we have to dissect when the answer is right there in the bible. It says that when the body dies the soul dies. when you eat a chicken that has been killed does it cluck and ask you why you killed it or is eating it. Can you logically apply all of what you said? No wonder then that you have a lingering question. And the answer is no. The hell is not a literal place and what would be the sense then to burn in hell Here are some scriptures to read: Gensis 2 verse 7; 1 Corinthians 15 verse 45: Joshua 11 verse 11: Acts 27 verse 37 Numbers 31 verse 28: revelations 16 verse 3: leviticus 24 verse 18. Jeremiah 2 verse 34; leviticus 7 verse 18; Ezekial 18 verse 4; Mark 8 verse 36; John 10 verse 15. Hell not a literal place: Job 14 v 13, Psalm 6 verse 5, eccelesiastes 9 verse 10; Isaiah 38 v18,19: acts 2 verse 27, 31, 32; Psalm 16 verse 10 and Revelations 20:13, 14. Enjoy

Okay first of all how can everyone be saved? Lets think about this for a bit. Do you think a person who's been devoted to God and truly loves him as opposed to someone who is a murderer and lives an unfavorable life under God's eyes will share the same heavenly reward? The bible clearly states no lier not murderer, no adulter will enter the kingdom of God...that is unless the ask forgiveness, repent of your sins, and confess Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. As far as your question goes check this website out...and also keep in mind that in revelation the bible states we will be given a new body not this one that suffers and gets sick..if you go to heaven

apparently it has been written that the soul can not live with out the body, so some supernatural force would have to keep them alive so that they could enjoy eternal torment. People say God doesn't send you to hell, you do that yourself, but he sure does use his power to keep you there. Not that I believe any of this, just thinking outside the box a bit.

When we die, we no longer are restraint by our bodies and desires, we KNOW what we did was wrong and our conciouns wil give us hell then. Those that believ in a pysical hell will then create that hell with the power of their mind simply because they believe that is what they deserve. But others ask God for forgiveness and a chance to redeem themself, by being reborn and then suffer the same pain that they caused others. As you saw, so you reap. It works; if we dont pay in one live then in another...

even after death we still have our sense's. for example read about the rich man and Lazarus. after they both died they could see, hear, touch. the rich man asked for water to cool his tongue from the fire where he was at. Abraham responded that he had the pleasures of the world while on earth and chose to neglect Lazarus needs. hell is for real and being there is complete darkness separated from the Light, Jesus! accept His free gift of eternal life and live with Him forever.

Simple: you get your immortal body back at the Second Coming.
An interesting read is Return To Tomorrow. It talks about the state of spirits between death and the Second Coming.

It is all a mystery, plus if it is written it will be so, who are we to question GOD. What seems impossible for men is not impossible for GOD. The soul will feel great pain knowing it is away from its creator.

Ever hear of "phantom pain"? It's the pain that an amputee still feels in their missing limbs even AFTER they have been amputated....I dare say that if someone in THIS lifetime can feel pain in an invisible limb, is it impossible for someone to feel that pain in HELL?
