Why is it that we always question what the Bible says, but we mostly always believe what the newspapers and magazines say? We do question the Bible alot.

Please, no flaming.

Whether we like it or not, I have seen that we question the Bible a lot more than we question newspapers and magazines. And to those who have already answered, some were wondering if I was Christian or not. Don't worry, I am a Christian.

No flaming or name calling, please.

As it is written, the Bible instructs us to question the teachings of "those who claim to teach" from the Bible and be vigilant enough to determine who the FALSE PROPHETS and WOLVES IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING are...

Whereas, the daily newspapers are merely a media platform for people to put their own spin on... depending of who or what's hot and what's not.

Let's face it. Some people waiting in checkout lines prefer to believe what they read in the tabloids more than anything else! Go figure.

Peace be with you.

What color are God's eyes?

As for the news media, we can see (or read) and make decisions based on the presentation. Sometimes we find what we thought was true is really a lie. We make adjustments and more on.

Back to what color are God's eyes? We either believe in the bible or we don't. If we believe the bible, then we believe the words of the prophets. We believe what they said is the word of God, even at times to may be hard to accept and even more difficult to practice.

When we question the new media, we may or may not get an answer. When we question the bible, we are not listening. The bible is not something to be debated. It is a collection of books for the believer. The bible is not a conversion manual, but a tool for those who believe.

For example, we know that God is spirit and that we worship God in spirit and in truth. We know that God existed before he created everything we are able to observe. We know God created gender, but we do not know if God has a gender (it is not reveal in the bible), so technically I should be using he/she/it for he.

So what color are God's eyes. You can only answer this question within the pages of the bible. You will find it no where else.

Actually, I find the opposite to be true. People will complain about how the newspapers are just fear mongering or biased liberal or conservative.

However, if you dare to not accept the Bible as absolute truth, people will flame you. There is a bias in this country that favors religion, even though it is not based in fact. You can speak out against a political party affiliation. You can speak out against a person's views on the world, environment, moral issues, and even what sports team one follows. However, say one bad thing about someone's religion and you're ostracized.

Really, the Bible is a product of an old culture that had many faults. As a guide, it is, at best, a mixed bag. The Bible should be questioned, especially when someone comes along and tries to convince everybody that it is literally true.

Ok. I get your question. We generally do not question magazines or newpapers because we know that they were written by some people who still exist. Who knows who wrote the bible and on what account they wrote it? But anyway, I do question the newspapers and I try to research about it as well. I do not take things blindly.

Show me a newspaper that says that a man rose from the dead or that a man lived in a whale's stomach for three days and then your analogy would work.

We question things that don't accord with our reason. When a newspaper reports about an earthquake across the globe we take it on their word because it is not an extraordinary claim. We know earthquakes happen and we would be hard pressed to find their motivations for lying about such a thing to us.

The Bible makes all kinds of extraordinary claims that don't accord with my reason and the motivations for lying about them are apparent to me.

Who always accepts what newspapers tell us? Maybe you do, but I don't. I question everything I read. If it sounds reasonable I'm more likely to accept it. If it has verifiable sources that I can look into myself, then I'm more likely to accept it. If the research appears complete, I'm more likely to accept it. If something sounds fishy or incomplete I look into it further.

The bible has none of those things. No sources, no data, nothing that would lead anyone to believe that what happened is factually correct. I don't question the bible, I utterly dismiss it.

Because people love controversy. They like to read about how fat people are, who is getting a divorce, ect... as for the media- that is one side of the story most of the time.
As for the Bible- Here it is- nearly 2000 years later- and people are still questioning, talking about it and believing in it. That is what is important.

they are two different mediums, the Bible is truth and the newspapers are like half-truths, and have you noticed how good news is not the main priority of newspapers, as it doesn`t sell as well as bad news does.
the newspapers print what they think we should know and the Bible contents are what we need to know.

It takes faith to believe what the Bible says, on the other hand the tabloids are so much easier to understand, most are written at a 7th grade level.

I personally don't question it but don't always understand the Bible. But with study it becomes clear. Remember the Word is seed planted in the soil of our mind. God has to germenate it and then water it before it grows.
