Assalamu' Alaikum wrwb!

I read somewhere that Alexander the Great is mentioned in the Qur'an and he is the one who helped people to lock up yajooj and majooj and that he was a Muslim. Is this true?
Jazakumullah!

God will not bless or help us unless we worship and kiss his behind on a daily basis. So why should I be expected to do any different? Lead by example and its obvious by the condition of the world that god does not give a crap about us.

I don't know much about the hannukah story. Did it come before Jesus Christ was born? If so, why don't christians celebrate it also? Considering that they were jewish before christianity was started, it's in their heritage, too, right?

Really there are so many judgemental question asked. Does'nt that go against all of their religious teachings? I don't think Jesus would be acting that way.

The universal energy controling our lives seeks forgiveness from us, for us and to our neighbors. Hate and resentment rules our imperfect hearts. Help me change mine by sending me inspirational messages, photos and or artwork that I may pass it on this Thanksgiving Season.

I have seen many questions and answers on this site discussing God, the bible, and a whole lot of Christian values. My question concerns all the other people in the World. There is no universal religion, religions include other Gods, other books of religion. This question is directed to those who say "God is..." In saying anything about God, or any religious belief, all the other people following the other religions of the world are in essence, left out and considered to be in err. God is... as much as their God is.... Christianity is as much the right way as the other religions are, (to those who believe in those religions). Why can't we say "I believe ..." Rather than "it is the way I say it is". Abortion, gay marriage, child rearing, these are all discussed in many religious books, but, the right thing to do depends on what book you are reading. We musn't forget the other people in this world. Why do we so often ignore their plight?

Holy Koran, Sura 4 :- Women (Al-Nisa')

Very briefly and not wishing to mis translate there is a section that says (in effect):-
'Men have authority over Women because Allah has made the one superior to the others, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good Women are obedient, they guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them.
As for those from whom you fear disobedience admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.
Then if they obey you , take no futher action against them. Allah is high, supreme.

This Sura also gives good advise on mending broken marriage relationships etc.
Now my question is does all this still apply, or has the English translator 'lost' something in translation?
Whenever I have asked Muslim friends this type of question they have nearly always said that if the Holy Koran is not read and undersood in Arabic then the whole message is missed.
Is this correct??

I've been going to Church for only a couple weeks and I have questions--

Why does God as Jesus pray to God? Is He asking Himself?

Did God as Jesus go to Hell for 3 days before ascending to Heaven?

Probably more to come.

Think about it, since the only real comfort and answer is the conclusion that whatever is in store is between you and God directly, wouldn't that make all the hell-fire preachers and major religions unnecessary since they need to encourage their teachings and commands to keep followers?

If the simple answer is 'its between you and God' existed, and it was private and personal, it would be human nature and a matter of time before this belief was concluded as 'wrong and unnatural' by a spiritual leader, who in turn says this to become noticed and more important.

"You need our book to understand you can't do it alone'

"You must follow our laws or you'll be punished dearly after death'

How do they know? They've never died and seen whats in store, they're simply re-telling stories of heresay are they not?

The comfort IS that the final choice is yours alone, not theirs, and I guess it saddens me when people give up themselves to follow so obediently to flawed teachings.....

John 1:3 states “All things came into existence through [Greek dia] him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existence”. This according to Trinitarians prove that Jesus is the creator. The other translations used “by” instead of through in John 1:3. So no wonder there’s a confusion. Looking at Strong’s Greek dictionary , it defines dia as

dee-ah'
A primary preposition denoting the channel of an act; through (in very wide applications, local, causal or occasional). In composition it retains the same general import: - after, always, among, at, to avoid, because of (that), briefly, by, for (cause) . . . fore, from, in, by occasion of, of, by reason of, for sake, that, thereby, therefore, X though, through (-out), to, wherefore, with (-in). In composition it retains the same general import.

Notice it states the CHANNEL of an act,THROUGH.

A channel is a “way, course, or direction of thought or action” according to www.m-w.com.

The Bible tells us, "The king David answered and said, Call me Bathsheba. And she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king. And the king sware, and said, As the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress, Even as I sware unto thee by the LORD God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day. Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord King David live for ever. And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king. The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon." What year did Solomon start the building of the Temple?

I just asked the question why does religion get mixed up with gay marriage when marriage is a legal entity and I received several interesting answers. One that jumped out at me particularly, was about "gay" being sinful and that's why they're not allowed to marry in a church.

OKAY, HERE'S QUESTION #2..... My ex-husband was a major born again Christian.....Jesus-freak to the core.....carried a bible everywhere he went. It's one of the reasons I divorced him. Of course, the main reason I divorced him was that he cheated on me......with someone at his church. After we divorced, he married his little tramp. Why was he allowed to marry in the church when a gay person isn't? Isn't adultery a sin? I believe it's even a Commandment!

I get tons of threats and warnings (as THE CPT) from believers saying I better fess up and believe or else....

well, quite frankly, the choice of what I believe to be God is mine alone, not yours. So if there is a judgement day, I'll be prepared to come as who I am to engage whatever is store for me. All the voices around me are moot and empty, since they are not God, they are just people like myself looking for answers through different beliefs and perspectives. Some may feel they are more correct than others, but all in all, it's still an empty threat or warning, for they are not God.

My idea of God genuinely respects those who think freely, and who come as they are, and who don't mindlessly obey man-made concepts as God.

I'm prepared also to just 'die' and become nothing. The idea of everlasting eternity seems scary, suffocating and too incomprehensible for me. The greatest relief could very well just be becoming non-existent.

Again, all your demands are empty
