When I was younger, I went to church all the time and I was a strong Christian and live by the word of God as best as I could, but I started feeling like God wanted to teach and show other young ones to word of God and shut the door on God…

Recently I’ve gotten back into church and trying to regain the Christian life I once have and I am not feeling God when I go to church like I once did. Is teaching Gods word still my calling and has God shut the door on me, or has my time ran out?

One of the big complaints voiced against Islam is that adherents too often do not condemn Muslims who advocate violence.

However, we all know people with whom we share a world view who is prone to saying things that embarrass us or that paints religion/stance in a bad light.

For example, although I'm a gay atheist, I disagree with Elton John that religion should be banned. I wish he had shown a bit more tolerance and recognition that Christianity is not monolythic.

Who in your own religious or philosophical group do you wish would "put a sock in it"? Feel free to name more than one.

If I were an athiest and was sure in my heart that there was no god and no afterlife. I would care less if there was some giant cross on public land. I would care nothing if a student mentioned her faith in Jesus at a graduation speech. In fact, even now as a Christian I am not offended if someone wants to mention their faith in Buddah or their faith in no god, whatever, as long as our children can also talk about Jesus. Shouldn't we be celebrating a diverse community instead of covering it up?
If we evangelize and someone converts to Christianity what should the athiest care? If he really believes there is no God and no afterlife, what business is it of his as long as everybody is happy?
If an athiest has loved one who converts to Christianity, he should not care as long as theyre happy (after all he already knows that he is right)
On the other hand when Christians have athiest theology preached them at school our children (according to people of faith) are in spiritual danger

I think each society has its ideas of good and evil, right and wrong, but there are some values that might transend to all cultures. I think each culture has its own system of morals and God does not have much to do with. I believe that there was a creator (or perhaps more than one) that gave life free will, but that creator does not intervene or program us with morals. God is perhaps watching the show, hoping things will work out. I think that a quick look at the world today is upsetting to God. This may sound cynical, but I think God has lost hope.

If the Book of Mormon was engraved on gold plates thousands of years ago in "reformed Egyptian", why does it read in perfect 1611 King James Version English, even though that wasnt the language used by people in the days of Joseph Smith ?

My best friend Linda is my youngest son's godmother. She's always been very liberal. She's a Democrat, feminist, environmentalist, etc. She just told me that not only is she actually gay, but she's also left Christianity to become a Pagan. I love her dearly and she claims that would stand by her pledge to raise my son in the Christian church if it ever came to that, but I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

with differences? I hear people say all the time that they think they should stop seein their boyfriend or girlfriend who is a different religion then themselves.Thats just low. Why do people care what religion you follow when they should be worrying about love. It should be about love, not the religion or even the color of skin, dont you agree?

To me, from an outside perspective, I can't think of too many examples in which an organized religion has really promoted female equality. Maybe, Epsicopalians, because they support the ordination of women....

Just look at the Baptists, who have openly come out against having female preachers.

Look at the Muslim community, and Amish Communities where women have to wear veils.

Do you think the Dali Lama would ever be a woman? Even Scientology is focused around a guy. Muhammed, Jesus, and Moses were all men, no surprise there. Do you think an orgainzed religion would ever be focused around a woman?

So women, my question is this. Why do you put up with these stupid religions that seem to be so focused on keeping you one step behind men?

My account was deleted because closed minded people would rather report my questions then either a) ignore them, or b) respond like a rational person. None of my questions have contained any of the violations that have been attributed to them. It's a case of people who disagree being intolerent of any views but their own.

Yahoo terrorists... please, will you please grow up and participate in a community?

I asked why my catholic friends are so unhappy....I have asked them and they blame their religion!!!! I don't!!! I genuinely wanted to know what I could do to help them feel better as they feel lost because they don't know what to believe in anymore and if they say something they are afraid that they will be persecuted by their families and church. Obviously ther is not much I can do by the answers I was given. Maybe you should get off your high horse. Or, maybe grow up.
