I am a Muslim Arab and I know my religion very good , look if you are a young age and can't start a life of your own , you can do the following
Just convert , say the Shada "Ash houd Ana La Illah Ila Allah , wa Ana Mohamed Rosol Allah ", you can do with yourself , it is between you and Allah , no need for Islamic center , as your mom would know
and then hide your Islam from her , until she would be more open , or till you can live on your own
Practice all teaching in secret as much as you can , if you can't then try by the basics
look it is not lying , but there is a golden rule in Islam says "The necessities permit the forbiddens"
Early Muslims in Mecca hided their Islam to survive
I am not asking you to lie your mom but at least just hided
a Friend of mine suffered from the same situation yet in the end she managed to move on with her life away from her

There must be a reason you want to become a muslim. And I hope it isn't because you think it is trendy. However, if you are serious, either wait until you move out, or tell your mom regardless. Remember, you can't choose your parents or family, but you can choose what you want to do with your afterlife. If you think Islam is the way to go, then do it. But I have a hunch you don't really understand the truths of either christianity or Islam, and are just looking for attention.

For if you did understand the truths, there would be no question as to what you should do. Both the Bible and the Quran clearly dictate how a person should view their faith versus their family.

If you accepted Jesus Christ as YOUR personal Savior; for ONLY HE can SAVE you then WHY would YOU want to give that up. You can't have it both ways. The Muslim faith does NOT believe that JESUS is the SAVIOR of mankind. You are being wishy ,washy and you are trying to teeter on a fine line thinking that you can just jump back at the LAST second when JESUS comes. CHOOSE you this day whom you will serve. Wishy ,washy isn't what God wants for you. YOU are saved FOR (not by) good works. Get involved in some good work and give of the strength of your youth.

Hi there,
Before making any major changes, figure out why you want to change religion, and whether this will make you happy. You might want to investigate other world religions, because there may be other philosophies you find even more appealing.
Next you need to question what Islam will do for you that Christianity can't. Also investigate islam; there may be some things about it you will find less than appealing.

Today humanity is being challenged. Unthinkable atrocities take place on daily basis. There is an evil force at work that aims to destroy us. The agents of this evil respect nothing; not even the lives of children. Every day there are bombings, every day innocent people are targeted and murdered. It seems as if we are helpless. But we are not!

The ancient Chinese sage Sun Zi said, "Know your enemy and you won't be defeated". Do we know our enemy? If we don't, then we are doomed.

Terrorism is not an ideology, it is a tool; but the terrorists kill for an ideology. They call that ideology Islam.

The entire world, both Muslims and non-Muslims claim that the terrorists have hijacked "the religion of peace" and Islam does not condone violence.

Who is right? Do the terrorists understand Islam better, or do those who decry them? The answer to this question is the key to our victory, and failure to find that key will result in our loss and death will be upon us. The key is in the Quran and the history of Islam.

Those of us, who know Islam, know that the understanding of the terrorists of Islam is correct. They are doing nothing that their prophet did not do and did not encourage his followers to do. Murder, rape, assassination, beheading, massacre and sacrilege of the dead "to delight the hearts of the believers" were all practiced by Muhammad, were taught by him and were observed by Muslims throughout their history.

If truth has ever mattered, it matters most now! This is the time that we have to call a spade a spade. This is the time that we have to find the root of the problem and eradicate it. The root of Islamic terrorism is Islam. The proof of that is the Quran.

If you want to be muslim, this statement alone means you are not a Christian. To be Christian, you must believe Christ lived and died for you.

That's ok, go to a mosque and find what you need to know and do, I am sure God will still love you, you are a child of God

Dumb thing to do, pal; man should always look forward, not backward. Your intention implies you were never a Christian in the first place; never knew Jesus Christ, and just like you're prepared to abandon Christianity now, you're very likely to abandon Islam later, unless you prefer its generous worldly offers.
If I were you, I'd listen to mom and stay in the house; she's a wise lady and obviously knows what's good for you far better than you presently do.

Convert anyways. I was forced into a Lutheran religion in my early childhood, and never felt right in it. I started searching for a way out in my mid-teens and eventually discovered the religion and lifestyle of the Druids, an ancient Celtic religion. Ever since I've been quite happily involved with the Druid aspect of Nature-Based spirituality. Most my family thinks I made the wrong choice and refuses to communicate with me, but thats a price I was willing to pay to be comfortable with myself spiritually.
