If I were an athiest and was sure in my heart that there was no god and no afterlife. I would care less if there was some giant cross on public land. I would care nothing if a student mentioned her faith in Jesus at a graduation speech. In fact, even now as a Christian I am not offended if someone wants to mention their faith in Buddah or their faith in no god, whatever, as long as our children can also talk about Jesus. Shouldn't we be celebrating a diverse community instead of covering it up?
If we evangelize and someone converts to Christianity what should the athiest care? If he really believes there is no God and no afterlife, what business is it of his as long as everybody is happy?
If an athiest has loved one who converts to Christianity, he should not care as long as theyre happy (after all he already knows that he is right)
On the other hand when Christians have athiest theology preached them at school our children (according to people of faith) are in spiritual danger

You all did not read carefully. I care because I know there is an afterlife and care for the eternal destiny of my children.
If you really believe there is no afterlife what is it to you? Why all the questions on this sight attacking our faith.

Atheism (secular humanism) IS a religion.

Because the definition of atheism is disbelief in God.

You have a choice, you can either believe in supreme creator of all things or believe that everything is an accident. Either way, it is a conscious effort. To NOT believe that there is God, requires even more faith than to believe, they know that.

When you believe in something, you identify with it. When someone threatens your faith, you take it personally. Atheists feel threatened by any mention of faith, especially Christianity.

Every person questions his faith, even the most devout Christians do. If you don't your blind. When I do it, I come to the conclusion that I believe in salvation, and that my life is not an accident, and that I do not live in vain, and that its not all over when I die. When atheist question themselves, they realize that they are rooting for "nothingness", but they can't say it. That makes them feel very uncomfortable. That's why they would rather see all religions be banned so that nothing can remind them of the burning questions, and they may continue their meaningless lives in oblivion.

Well as a Christian, you should know this information, but here you go...first off there is no such thing as an atheist. There is such a thing as a fool "...The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God..." there that issue is solved. That's what the Bible says.

Because there is no such thing as an atheist, but only a fool (Biblically speaking) then one could reason that they likely have a secret fear that there is a God, but their pride gets in the way from that admission. How can you look at this world/universe and believe God is not real, well again Biblically speaking you can't say that without being a fool. Romans 1:20-22 KJV "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,"

Do you know why Atheists care? because Christians are trying to force EVERYONE (including atheists) to live by Christian beliefs.

Want some examples? Attempts at allowing ONLY Christian prayer in schools, prevention of gay marriage, not allowing Muslim women to wear their head dresses, harassing people by knocking on their door to spread their religion, I can keep going but you get the point.

Christians think they have the right to dictate how life should be lived by everyone because only their beliefs can possibly be right and everyone else is wrong.

That's why they care. Because Atheists are probably doing the ONLY right thing that can be done. They're pushing for everyone to have religion kept out of schools, the workplace, and the gvt in order to allow for equall treatment to everyone.

Why do they care? Because they should care. And so should you. Because it's wrong to treat anyone else as though they're less than human, or less than you, just because they aren't your religion.

Heck, I'm Wiccan and even I agree with the atheists in the way they do pretty much everything. That's why I argue on their side. Because I have the ability to keep my own religion out of it.

Just like you should.

Poor little victim. It's so hard to understand how the majority could be the victims, but I guess it's magically that way... *roll eyes*

I don't care what you believe, you all can believe whatever you damn well please, just stop trying to make YOUR religion ahead of all others. It should be equal for all, not Christians take center stage and everyone else stays on the sidelines.

Don't try to talk for people you are not and can't really say how you would be if you were one of us. That's no different then you saying "well if I was black I'd think THIS way or THAT way!" It's just not that easy.

Why do Christians care. If I dare say that I don't believe in Jesus as the saviour around my religious friends they get all bunched up in knot. If I asked them to explain why they believe what they do same thing. I think question applies to everyone not just atheists.

imagine you're strolling with a pal and prevent at an intersection. Your pal keeps going, ignorant of a motor vehicle rushing his way. What do you do - you shout "pay attention" or bypass out and get him. that is an same with Christians who inform you about Jesus. they have self assurance it truth, as a lot as you would have self assurance that motor vehicle replaced into coming at your pal replaced into truth. the truth of Jesus incorporates those who don't have self assurance will perish, so alongside the line of the analogy, your associates want to shout "pay attention - position self assurance in Jesus" so that you will see that the threat. no matter if you've faith has no incentive contained in the communique, its that your associates (or whoever is telling you) have self assurance it as actuality and subsequently want to ward off. you've faith that "Jesus did not exist" is truth, yet that truth has no result on every person so that you do not want to "keep" every person with that suggestion. As for evidence, nicely, educate to Christians that it is not truth So till you educate that, you've were given no data on your actuality of "Jesus did not exist" to push every person else into believing in the different case.

I don't really have a problem with anyone who wants to believe in fairytales. But the problems with christianity come into play when the politicians make laws to support their christian views, and restrict the lives of those who don't share their beliefs. Most of us will tell you that. The other problem we have with your faith and other religions as well, is the violence done by your extremeists. Diversity is good, I agree. If someone is a happy productive non-violent believer in anything I have no problem with them.

I wonder why someone who does not believe in an afterlife doesn't just blow their brains out in this one? What hope does an athiest have? You go through all the troubles of life, for what? In the end what do you have? Nothing?

If you believe in a deity even if you don't know what to call them and an afterlife then there is a reason for going through trouble. There is purpose. You may not know what it is or understand it. But there is purpose.

So far the answers on here show that they do care or they wouldn't of answered us question which was not subjected to them. They know that believers are right and they fear the unknown because they were former believers. They justified their presence by saying its all because of politics and such but that's not true because believers on here can't help what is being done in our government and so they personally attack believing strangers in a religious section who don't even live in their communities nor affect their lifestyles. They should protest to the ones who affect their communities not insult, ridicule and demonize a religious site. They want to dominate a majority with a remnant. How sad! You are so right when you say that we should come together regardless of our diversity but unfortunately when Satan is in the mix,People are not capable of change and unity, sadly not even in a question and answer site!

Great question!

You are negatively effecting the freedoms of this country.

Christians are taking away freedoms which they believe contradict their theology.

If you are so confident in your beliefs, then why can't you let everyone else live the lives they want? Why do you find it your business to get involved and stick your noses where they don't belong.

Why is it ok for Christians to try to convert others to Christianity but not OK for non-Christians to do the same?

Why it is OK for you to flaunt your religion, but not OK for science to be taught in schools?

Why is OK for you to oppress all forms of thought and actions which you perceive as threatening to your spiritual well being, while we can not fightback to preserve the freedoms we deserve for the only life we have? Can you understand that? You are living for your next life, we are living for this life. You feel entitled to strip us of our happiness from this life, but are appalled when we act in a way that threatens your fictitious after-life.

Pathetic.
