Many Christians reject Halloween celebrations, since these tend to glorify Satan and the occult. Frankly, Halloween traditions seem to be the opposite of godliness and Christianity.
Holidays such as Halloween derive from false religion, and so are incompatible with pure worship, since they work to adulterate true religion. For example, Easter derives from the pagan god Oestre and celebrates "rebirth" and "fertility" instead of commemorating Christ's Last Supper and death as Jesus commanded:
(Luke 22:1-22) [Jesus] dispatched Peter and John, saying: “Go and get the passover ready for us to eat.” ...14 At length when the hour came, he reclined at the table, and the apostles with him. 15 And he said to them: “I have greatly desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I tell you, I will not eat it again until it becomes fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” ... Keep doing this in remembrance of me.”
Since such celebrations are not required in true worship, and can easily become a distraction, so Jehovah's Witnesses focus their attention elsewhere. In particular, they are focussed on the preaching work which *IS* a requirement for Christians:
(Luke 10:1-17) [Jesus] the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Most every religion teaches against the reasoning behind Halloween, but only the witnesses are brave enough to do something about it.
There was a big blow out here about major Churches running haunted houses. There were a lot of editorial letters in the KC Star abhorring them for their graphic depictions of men, women, and children dying in the Apocalypse.

I am not a Jehovah's witness so I don't know for sure what they believe. However as a Christian I think we need to exercise some reason. I think it is much like the issue of eating meat sacrificed to idols. If it bothers your concience don't do it. But don't try and force regulations on other people who may not think of it that way. For alot of people it is nothing more than a time to dress up and eat candy, or go to parties. We need to be sure were not endingthe wrong message to kids and make them believe that being a Christian is about being against any form of fun. If you are in a situation and they push the ticket and you feel they are doing someting occult then by no means participate, but for most people your not celebrating Satan's birthday or something evil. I knew a relative who was living with us who during the Christmas break wouldn't enter the house because we had a Christmas tree. He said it was from pagan origin. I suggested if he caught us lying in front of the tree worshipping it then he would have reason for concern but to us it was only a decoration. He later saw the foolishness of his behaviour and said he was sorry for being a jerk. One thing I can say was he was humble enough to say sorry. To say most halloween celebrations glorify satan is misleading. Since there are no vampires werewolves frankensteins or other boogeymen most things involved in halloween are inocent. If they become occult then don't participate. The point is try to learn and use yur own moral comapss and not allow other to dictate every single aspect of your life. It's good to check with others and remain respectful of other opinions, but don't allow others inot bullying you inot making classifications that aren't necessarily true. It's to easy to get spritually lazy and allow others to decide everything for us. I know good Christians on both side of this issue, I just don't agree with some of them. When I was a kid and went shell-outing there was no overt reference to Satan or anything like that. If it gets like that then again it would be time to go somewhere else. It is unfortunate that many regulations observed by some religious sects have little to do with Jesus or the bible but more tryng to enforce non existant rules.

They don't celebrate anything but Christ death which they have a memorial service every year. Don't confuse it with Easter because they don't celebrate that either.

They abhor what the Bible abhors. The Bible says that you can not partake at God's table while at the same time partaking of Satan's table. Further, the Bible says quit touching the unclean things and I will be your God.
So, JW are right.
