Here is my answer from an earlier Morals question:
Morals could come from personal feelings on an issue or what someone might be comfortable with. If someone doesn't want to have sex until they are married, it doesn't have to be because their religion says so, it might be because they feel their first time will mean more to them and their lover if they wait until then. Morals are just personal guidelines based upon someone's feeling on certain subjects. If you do something just because your religion says so, your not doing it for yourself. Would you jump off a bridge if your religion told you to? I wouldn't, I'd throw that religion's holy book off the bridge and find another belief that I felt comfortable in. Hopefully I was able to help.

I think it supports the idea that man was created in the image and likeness of God. That is not to say physically, but mentally. The apostle Paul wrote that humans have conscience. Whether or not they believe in God, that conscience either convicts or acquits them.
Morals and conscience are synonymous.
Lower forms of animals do not have morals /conscience.

There are plenty of secular philosophical explanations but David Hume gives the most convincing explanation for morality. Basically we derive pleasure from doing good to others hence in reality we are motivated by self interest which I believe is probably right.

Morals are personally relevant and society imposed.
Consider, if society, through law, deemed it appropiate to murder someone based on lets say, what side of the bed they got out of, we may not find it moral now, but as its law fell into practicem, in say 100 years, it woul seem moral and justifiable.
Morality, is imposed by laws in society, not by religion. Personal morality, whether or not I decide to practice killing people for getting out of bed on the wrong side, is choosen.

Natural part of the development of a human culture or community. I mean, there are things, like stealing and murder, that are easily seen as bad by any culture.

Jesus entrusted Peter the first Pope with the fullness of truth in faith and morals. The Holy Catholic Church is your foundation to the formation of your conscience in making a judgement of the practical will which can either be right or wrong. Look to the truth.
The saving teaching Of Jesus Christ given to the Church.

I totally agree with you. God is looking on at all this and must regret that he ever created us. The wars and conflicts and crimes comitted in the name of religion is just unbelievable. I also think that sooner or later, God is going to intervene before we destroy the whole world.

Well, actually God created morals and stuff. Why? To keep us safe from wrong things we'll regret or things that could harm us.
How? Well it started with the ten commandments, and then Jesus summed it up like this. "Love God with all your spirit, soul, strength and mind. Then love your nieghbor as yourself. U see? if we do those things, all of the ten commandments can be summed into those two commands. do we always choose to do so? nope. As a Christian I
mess up like everybody else. But God helps me , and resets my focus on Him when I goof things up. Hope I helped u out a bit.

Morals are planted deep inside, they just seem to take root better in some than others. I am NOT saying God does not put them there, I believe He is the planter..

Human invention. We all have to live in this world, don't we? And unless you're totally brainless, it doesn't take much to know that if you're nice to other people, the world is a nicer place to live.
