The vowels in YHWH were not removed. They were never there, because ancient Hebrew was written without vowels. However the Hebrews knew how to pronounce it and did. It is translated into modern languages according to their pronunciation whether: Jehovah( English), Geova (Italian), Yahweh(Ethiopian) , Yohowa (Korean) According tho the Bible it is meant to be known and all nations will know it.

Great question. God's name is Jehovah. It is appears thousands of times in ancient bible manuscripts, but because of superstitions w/regard to using Gods name it has been removed. However if you have older bibles you can usually find it in a least four places, one that was mentioned is Psalms 83:18.

The only time God Himself ever said what His name is was to Moses at the burning bush. God said YHWH (All the vowels were removed so that no man could pronounce His name and so couldn't use it in vain). This name means I AM that I AM as translated into English... Jim
